Can you tell me what Holden/HSV are doing to oversome the extra weight for VE? Have they been able to achieve on par performance and handling with VE compared to current commodores? With your little comparison of saved weight between VT1 and VT2, i know that simple throttle position calibrations were made, these alone provide a WHOLE different launch feel.. i thought you'd know this??? Do you actually know the official difference in weight between the two? |

Clubby is faster than GT Clubby handles better than GT Clubby is heeps more fully sick that GT Clubby is better than GT I am really sure this is true because I see the huge stocks and gross discounting of Clubbys at all the HSV shops. $10k ++++ (gotta be volume discounting or something, maybe they are cheaper in sixpaks or something) So now you have convinced me only 19,999,999 more aussies to go..... |

There's no need to quote articles, we all know the fundamental differences that contribute to the way the cars feel. Even if the weight between the cars were closer, it's still likely that there would be differing feel, considering the other fundamental differences.. i.e gearing, diff ratio, tyres etc... the point is, the cars are always going to differ, there for there will always be a preference to one or the other for personal reasons and preferences. There's no need to justify your opinion, because we all have one that we could easily justify also! |

Ive got some questions for Phatwagon seeing you've been kind enough to identify yourself and grace us with your insightful comments,
Firstly: After the debarcle of the piston slap rattley LS1, What are HSV doing to over come the burn't out exhaust valve issue that so many customers are complaining about with LS2? Why do 297kw LS2's struggle to make similar power to the LS1's and Boss 290's on dyno's?

I thought this forum got over the "attack posters who have a neg view" syndrome...
We were presented with an image of the new model with limited description....this is a free forum and we retain the right to pass an opinion....pos or neg. I don't think Phatwagon's initial comment was that out of line...but when the attacks started you now get a slagging LS1/LS2 vs BOSS match...grrrrr. Back on the BF.... Quote:

I am looking forward to the 6 speed auto Typhoon, I personally think it will probably be the fastest vehicle out of the entire FPV range - will be interesting to see : (I think I remember something in the photos from the article about it being 'the best thing FPV have put together' or something like that ...) I still say it's really just a BA MKIII :gren: |

Anyway, the BF is a beauty, IMO. If you love the car, nothing stopping you parting with your money... The 6 spd auto is reason enough to buy one. It would make a super cruiser, no doubt. I can't wait to get my hands on Motor mag... mainly for the scoop pics of the VE. :

If you're a member of fordxr6turbo the pics are over there and also on that same forum
I don't mind the new typhoon. In black, it would be a dead ringer for darth vader. The new phoon wheels are an odd colour? Or maybe its just the scan. Last edited by billyb35; 12-10-2005 at 04:06 PM. |

Could have went to the QLD BF dealer day yesturday but didn't as i was taken delivery of another new vehicle for a family member, but the boys who did go tell me the BA XR6 Turbo, anything with the 230 V8 and the XR8 absolutely FLY!
Even the new G8 is a fair bit more interesting to drive compared to the G220 im told thanks to the new six speed auto.... Good times ahead for those who want to upgrade, sad times ahead for dealers who have 300 BA's needed to be sold, coz they just won't sell once BF stories get around. |

The cars look a little better, but the changes look more like tweaks than revolutionary/evolutionary changes - fairly conservative, not wanting to offend whilst trying to win brownie points with enthusiasts.
Twin pipes and new 6 speed may add some more attraction, be interesting to find out if they outperform the BA GTs Oh and the three magic words: Mid Corner Speed |

Finally I get to see it, I missed the first post. Back in july last year I saw the design for what seems to be the Typhoon front and rear bars. I only saw digital renders and I've wanted to show people what it would look like for so long but I signed legal contract and couldnt reproduce anything I had seen at FPV.
When I saw it the inserts were body coloured and not greyed out so maybe they decided to add that later on, and I knew the GT would have dual pipes as I had seen that aswell. For me, I absolutely love the GT front bar and rear bars on both cars. The typhoon needs a number plate to really see what it will look like as it looks a tad odd, but nice none the less. The stripes on the GT are awesome aswell. The wheels on both cars are awesome, I've always loved the GT-P wheels and since the GT gets them and a few of its options, makes me wonder. Do you guys rekon there will be no more GT-P??. martO

FPV will always make sure the GT-P has some things people want that they cant get on the GT, like SAT-NAV etc. So its no problem, also they will make unique wheels for the GT-P and other small things like that to distinguish them apart.
Did anyone else here pick on the styling on the F6? the front bar intake is nearly identical to the Ford Iosis concept! love it! |

Who knows... maybe the P in GT-P will stand for "Performance" after all?
Lets speculate for a second - 320kW 550Nm GT-P anyone? :

Though that wont happen. I just hope that they can justify the value of a GT-P and maybe make it look and perform differently. Such as the 320kw and 550Nm that Steffo suggested. EDIT: I just read that the GT-P will be getting 6 piston callipers, so in other words .. there will be a GT-P, along with the super pursuit, lets hope they look slightly different from the GT .
