At the end of the day do want you want just be prepared to cop a little bit of shite from the people that think you are riping off a GT.
I had a hornet bonnet scoop on my xf and the shite i used to cop was unbelivable. Why would you put a scoop like that on a 6. Blah blah blah.
Some times I gave it back with why would u put a 4inch exhaust or a 10,000rpm taco on something like that(Usualy older commo's)
Then other time's It would be OK lets go.
I liked how it looked and it had the good's to back up the look....

Cheers.......Kev

I'm also thinking of getting the front mesh from an XT (it's got smaller holes than the XR8) and getting some mesh for the lower airdamn and painting them both the silver/grey colour (going onto a blood orange car).

Not sure how good it'll look, prob only cost around $75 to find out though.

mine will most likely end up looking like some form of F6/GT half breed.. and yes it's your own choice what you do with your own car. Who the ИИИИ cares what anyone else thinks. Those who want to be sheep, that's fine, but if you want to be unique good on you. Most of the people who bag people for replica cars either a) own the real thing and don't like the idea of you looking as good as theirs for a lot less (performance aside) or b) just like whinging.

So many of these threads in so many different forums with so many different opinions.

But as Racecraft said above, ITS COSMETIC. Its your cash. If you have an option to make your car you climb into everyday look better why would you spend time sweating about what anyone else thinks? Who cares what anybody else thinks anyway....

Badge it up too if you like, I'll snigger at you as you drive past, but why should you care?

Thought pattern:
Got my new XR6, yeah!!!
Hang on, Ive had it a couple of months and it looks a bit bland for my taste, blends into the XR6 crowd!....wonder what options I have to make it look better...I dont have the imagination to form my own combination in my head I need something off the shelf
Hey those GT kits look great, what about one of them...
a) oh hang on, I cant do that people will think I'm a ricer...(sells car 12 months later as never really got 'into' it)
b) bugger everyone....keeps car for an extended period as it looks great everyday....but has a little itch every now and then and wishes they could afford the real thing

I modded my old XR6 with a XR8 rear wing, was I trying to look like an XR8? Nope, the standard spoiler just didnt look the part with my wheels and lowering and bodykits, the rest of the car just looked too aggressive...cant say I cared for a second what anyone would think, and never had a single negative comment in the years I owned it (because it was COSMETIC and it looked better)

Exactly. My XR6 is debadged and i'm doing anything i can (including custom black/paint colour leather interior (coming), custom tip, wheels, plates, and typhoon wing etc etc to make it as unique as physically possible. There's nothing wrong with personalising something to suit your individual desire, similar to mobile phone ringtones/face plates, backgrounds on your computer, clothes you wear. As PepeLePew said above, he'll snigger as he sees someone with a car badged as something it's not, but 95% of the rest of the people wouldn't even notice/care anyway (the non car-nuts).

Your car, your choice, just don't make it look mega-****y. (aka chapel street parades)

Good to see i'm not the only one that thinks that the GT wing is horrid. If de-winging was not an option i would fit a typhoon wing - much cleaner.

My preference would be to remove the wing all together and fit a little lip a-la M3, and Audi S4. Also, i'd get rid of all the stickers (especially the ones on the side skirts : ) and badges except the one on the boot. Nice and clean..

I really don't give a rats what people do with their cars. My only question is: what about resale? Will you find someone else with the same tastes as you with your "custom" car. After spending say $40K on a new car then spending $5K/10K on "customising" it, I reckon it's a bit of a gamble. Oh and one other thing, why do people go to all the trouble de-badging their non-FPV car if they then turn around and whack FPV badges on it?

Dress it up however you like, it's still an XR6. Just as long as you don't try and bullИИИИ everyone into believing it's actually an FPV model.

im all for customising a car, putting a body it on it ect, but try to mix them up a bit, so dont put a full GT body kit on an XR try to make something that will stand out from the crowd, and dont debadge it either, unless the badges make it look ugly, because the badges tell the person who sees it what it was and what it has become.

Your own money, purchasing your own car, as if anyone gives a crap what joe blogs down the street thinks about their car. A lot of people hate Toxic, but i got it because i think it's awesome. Someone could buy a territory, turn it into a softop and have the Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra playing from the back of it, i wouldn't care, because it's their car ;p If someone wants to customise, that's their option, people can have their opinions about it, but asif dictate what people can and can't do with their own car ?

If that were the case people wouldn't be turboing X series fords, or putting 50k's of audio gear into 90's falcons. But it's their money, and if it makes them happy then good for them.

If you like owning a FAKE something, then thats up to you. Just dont expect to not cop opinions about it. People wont tell you not to do it, they will just tell you it looks like a fake and wonder about what sort of people like to drive something that doesnt have the balls that it looks like it has...

Fantz, I LOVE Toxic!!! If I was getting a BF Typhoon right now, it would very likely be Toxic.

Was in Tamworth a couple of weeks ago.

Saw an XR6 with a GT body kit on it.

It looked o.k. except for one thing.

On the GT Stripe where "GT" or "GT-P" are normally, this moron had "GT-6"!

I couldn't believe it. That ruined the whole car.

Cheers,

It will probably look good.
But I will still think it's a bad thing. The GT kit is for the GT.
If you want that look, you should probably look at upgrading the XR.

Yeah i was worried i might look at it after a couple of weeks and say to myself 'why on EARTH did i buy this colour?!' but after nearly 4 months i actually love it more now than i did when i bought it. The seats have the toxic coloured tyre pattern on them too, not grey. Toxic would look great on a typhoon.

aslong as the car is different from the next car then its cool. i think personalisation is important. if you like the look stick with it. but when it comes to badging leave the GT ones off. theres nothing wrong with a good looking car....

Just so some school kid can debadge it for them again, this time leaving screw driver marks.

FPV badges are a nono on XR's i prefer to leave my badges alone!
