I've got a couple of 5 lt containers of this. I haven't started using the castrol yet, but just now noticed that the api rating of this oil is "sl", as opposed to some of the other oils out there being "sn" graded. Does anyone reckon there's much difference?

Hi mate, the sl rating is because of the higher phosphorus levels for better hths
protection. The worry is that the higher phosphorus levels of this oil can void new car warranty because this oil may damage cat converters.

Sm & Sn have reduced phosphorus levels to comply to oem specs & are cat converter friendly afaik. If you don't have any warranty issues, I think you will be safe to use it, good luck!!

Thanks, do you have the oil API ratings for Diesel spec vehicles?

Some oils have API SN/CF, if Im correct the API SN part is for petrol engines, and the API CF is for diesel engines.

This is massive, hoping it applies to castrol transmax TQ95 oil too. Castrol edge 0W-40 and 10W-60 will be popular if this discount applies to them...
