Not long after I finnished My Turbo'd RX5 I took my brother for a drive to show him how it went ! Wound it out in 1st 2nd and third and thought id better back off as the scenery was flashing past fairly quickly ! Loked at the speedo, 190 kph . It got there very quikly , and still had 2 gears left . Was more of a loxo road car so I left the drags to my ute. This was 1990 when 12.2 was quik in an XY Ute .
But the biggest and most outragous rush is a Sprintcar ! Nothing like it ! you go from idle to 8000 rpm , in about 2 sec ,single gear direct drive! PRobly about 30 kph to 140 kph in about 2 seconds. 1/4 mile in low 12 seconds.I know it dont sound that fast but there are 2 180 degree turns on dirt in there !Try doing that with 11 other 750 hp animals ! If you ever get the chance to drive a sprintcar ! Do it ! you will not be disapointed !

Nissan GTR 33. This thing was bombed off it's guts. Down the back straight off Queensland raceway it would hit 280km, and had a ship load more left to go. If the straight was longer.

The fastest car I have driven was a mate of mines BA Falcon XR 8 with head, bottom end and exhaust work, pulling about 400k/w at the engine. I drove it down the road, but didn't take it far as I was on my P's. I didn't go over 100kmh either, but damn it was fast to get to that speed.

A mates XY fairmont. He had it tubbed with huge hoosier tires on it, and it had a 373 cleveland that cost about $30000. Had twin 3" exhausts but had to replace with twin 4" because they were too restricive. He reckons on the dyno it was 1127hp. Thing went unbelievably quick and dropped a burnout that was still in front of his house a year later. Only problem was that the engine would get hot after about 3 minutes of running, and wherever he took it out somebody would make a noise complaint. We took it to 240kmh and that seemed to take like two seconds, but I could be wrong. Scary though in an old car like that.

10-11 second mazda rx3.
a mate saw it and fell in love, so he bought it without really thinking. it was being sold cause the guy needed money for a lawyer, he was going to gaol no matter what but yeah hoping for a reduced sentence i guess. anyway it was unregistered. not engineered. the plate said 12A and STAMPED OVER THE TOP OF THIS was 13b. the diff (a locker) blew on its first drive. too low. exhaust was WAY too loud, you couldnt hear the stereo at all. luckily i didnt have a steer on a public road. not sure what ever happend to it. no engineer would touch it. probably in an impound lot or collecting dust. what a waste of $7000 couldnt even take it onto the street. he laughed when i said i wanted a falcon. at least i can legally drive my car.

Fastest car i have had the pleasure of driving is a mate XF wagon...complete with roof racks and baby's capsule. The windows don't work, wiper don't work...actually the whole car is a death trap!!! It was dyno'd at 537hp through the rears...and runs a 11.02 at 125mph!! Crap myself every time i get in this thing! The whole car rattles and squeaks, bad paint and stock XF Ghia mags puts the finishing touchon it.Very funny when he lines up all the Club Sport boys...they look over...laugh...then he smokes them :
Oh yeah it runs a turbo 250 cross-flow with a massive black Mack truck inter-cooler

Possibly my mates off-road buggy, little two seater raced prepped with a worked Datsun 1600cc motor in it..... I don't know if it was accelerating that fast (very different to a road car), but it certainly felt fast.
Otherwise probably an LS1 ute or my car

Whats wrong with going from a EL to a VLT?
VLs are pretty good for the price you pay for them. For example when I bought mine it was $3000 (5 speed) and really reliable. My old man says its one of the nicest cars he's driven even better then the extremely tidy EB Wagon we use to have. |
