It was absolutely awful.
Don't think I could hold another pet and watch them give it the needle again.

He looks like a ripper, our last one was a bit smarter too, you could see it in her eyes, Scarlettes got a glint of the devil in hers
She knows all of her puzzle toys, say red one, blue one and she'll get them, say purple one and she'll swear under her breath, it's by far the hardest one to get treats out of, lol.

I was aware of this when I bought mine.
Agreed there, it made it harder to find a house, 1-2mins walk from an open space, garage parking for four cars and a good kitchen(mrs is a chef) Worked out in the end, we have a footy oval/ park across the road. Once she's worn out we can start some training. I try to think outside of the square, theres lots of bollards to weave, things to jump, walls to climb, she's even worked out how to use the see-saw.

The kelpie is a very special Aussie breed that is getting hugely popular overseas..likewise the blue and red heelers..Highly desirable..,
we may not have exported our Falcons to the wide world but our dogs , especially the kelpies are making their mark all over the place..
It doesn't get much better than a kelpie and a border collie..a win-win for sure..You'll enjoy this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDaBJOMdOsY .
Cheers Rod..
Great post Rod, hope alls well in my birth state. I have a Greyhound now, rescue dog from a organisation set up to deal with this joke of a sport.

My two. Mine is Raph, the rescue black and white healer X, and when my girlfriend moved in with me along came her lab, Leo. They're best buds. Raph's the brains and Leo's the vacuum.

back to what the OP's original post, i have started mine as of today actually on a mix of kibble, raw eggs and offal/meat/bone scraps. Was only thinking of this thread today. Glad it reappeared.

I always have with our "pets"....... its not good, particularly when things don't go as smoothly as expected. But its worth giving them that last bit of comfort, for all the loyalty & enjoyment they've given us.

Like you i run mine daily for both our benefit but have to say that many working dogs spend a hell of a lot more time doing nothing than working, born and raised on a 35000acre station over here in NZ with an average of 27 dogs at any given time and cant remember a fat one amongst them which makes you wonder.
