Default New colour same as old??

So, can someone please tell me the point of introducing Petroleum to the MKII range?

When it is so close to Edge

Or, am I missing something?

Probably ..... colours dont do justice from a photo. The hue might be very different to that of Ego and its good that they make alterations to the range to keep things a little fresh.

yes, but it's only really noticable to the train spotters.

our new colour to the Ford range is Samsung appliance white vs. that old, crappy, LG appliance white that is so out dated now.

I dunno, maybe I'm a cynic...

I also hate being told utter crap from sales reps.

Nothing worse.

To me it looks darker, that is worth a new name. Ford will probably always have a dark metallic grey because it sells well but they should vary it a bit to make new models a look fresh.

Have a look at the little touch up spray paint display at all the different "whites"...what the hell is wrong with "white", without having two dozen variations which can hardly be noticed to most people?

I just hope they put the paint on that new Falcon more than two molecules thick as the "Edge" colour is on our G6E...honestly, brush a fingernail gently over it and you leave a mark...it's bloody shocking...

The paint on the FG's are pathetic, marks and chips to easy.
Put it through an auto carwash and it will probably rub off.
My old AU has better paint work.

Yeah I went to order a GT in Petroleum a couple of weeks ago (before the carsales images were available).

Based on FPV's website image I was expecting a dark green rather than grey.

I'm glad I did a deal on a GTP in edge rather than wait until January/February for a GT in a very similar colour.

Good point...

Unless they mean the technical term for "petroleum oil", or crude oil...but it's black as far as I know...never seen dark grey oil...

Whatever happened to creative colour naming...Plum Crazy, Lone Oranger, and others...

As for the thickness...more correctly, "thin-ness"...of the paint on stuff like our 50th Anniversary G6E in Edge, I got the Ford guy to check it out early in it's life, and they said "Nope...that's normal...they probably save some money on thinner paint like they do by not bothering to paint the bare iron engine blocks and parts anymore". Coming from a manager, that was a bit telling.
He also said his biggest mistake was buying an XR6T in black...look at it funny and it will mark. He said "Just take a lot of care washing it and be really picky about clean cloths and everything". I said we only ever use quality Macguires and other top brand cleaning fluids, mitts, and chamois cloths, and he shrugged and said "Well there's probably not a lot else you can do...that's just how they are now".

For farks sake...a fifty grand car with paint thinner than that on a kids Tonka truck...We're getting rid of it next year, but I'd really hate to see what it looks like in five years time...

Edge had a blue metallic fleck in it, Petroleum has a green fleck, quite similar in dark light, quite different in the sun. Ego wasn't much different from Edge either.

I heard that the paint on the FG was about 85 microns thick where the BF was 120-150.

Petroleum is very close to Ego... One of my good friends just got a Territory Titanium in that colour and she went from a Ego XR6T... Having seen both I reckon you could hardly tell the difference.
