Looking for driect replacement or a sports filter conversion?

Twin SUs or Strombergs; direct mount or does it have the remote housing?

Any numbers on the current filter/s?

Worst case scenario try Trumph Spares p/l in Fairfield Vic on (03) 9486 3711

Also check out the Triumph Club of Victoria at http://www.tccv.net/

Cheers

I get a lot of stuff for our Morris Minor from England...amazing number of suppliers with either NOS stuff or who make brand new parts for all sorts of classic cars. As an example: you can now get brand new body shells for Morris Minors, E-Type Jaguars, and MGB's...when you couple this with the dozens of people making parts for these cars, it is perfectly possible to build a brand new one of these cars from scratch. It's amazing!
Example: I recently bought a brand new pair of taillight lenses for our '57 Morris Minor from England for $29 for the pair...the bes I could find in Oz was one lens here and there, second hand, for about $40+ each off Ebay. It only took about a week for postage too.

I would try big car parts shops (Autobarn, Supercheap, etc), as there was a bit of common spread of parts between most British stuff...the air cleaner element for your Triumph would most likely be the same as that used in a dozen other cars.

As for "not a lot of room", hey, it's an English car...you get used to finding out you need four different spanners just to get the battery out, or skin your knuckles just checking the oil...

Repco should have the A89 it's probably just that the Ryco online selector http://www.rycofilters.com.au/catalogue/application doesn't frind your car.

ok sorry been so busy this week.

the car was put over the pits this week, i had no intention of it passing but just to see what needs fixing.
surprisingly the fix it list was really small. the biggest job on the list was fix the rust around the bonnet hinge. which is properly the worst rusted part on the car. the other bit of rust is just below the tail light on the passenger side. welding new steel into the car wont be a problerm as im a boiler maker.

1 thing they did not pick on was the moment in the front end. if you grab hold of the tire at the top and yank on it, it moves and goes clunk. its not wheel bearing. it shakes like a bugger when you drive above 60. if anyone can give me any ideas to start looking at?

oh and do you think i can find the fuse box.

i adjusted up the hand brake nice and tight. but it still dosent lock on right.. maybe sand the or machine the inside of the drum? or brake cleaner?

and to finish it off i want power steering

ill put a few photos up when i get a chance.

cheers

kraz

hey mate

i've got the same car 76' model, had for just over a year, kept me pretty busy the first few months.

I got my air filter from Supercheap, I'll give you the part number when I can, I had to pull the rubber seals off the top and bottom to make it fit that was the closest one I could find.

I just picked up an oil filter (only 8 bucks) from Ross, a parts supplier, Vanguard Triumph in Lilydale VIC, he's the best guy I've found and I've been to a fair few places, very cheap he does mail order aswell, can track down anything you want, looked over my car for free and saved me alot of cash on some bad advice from another mechanic.

Anyway worth giving him a ring he'll be able to advise you on any problems your having/any work you want to do, also let me know because I've probably had all the same ones.

I have an original Leyland repair manual which i would highly recommend getting saw one on Ebay UK for 8 pounds, all the haynes and other ones are rubbish.

My tires have the same clunking back and front, haven't bothered with it too much as mine dont shake at high speeds, apparently I need to replace bushes on the suspension, paticularly the trailing arm bushes.

Mine already has power steering so can't help you there.

Ill be home in a couple of days, ill let you know about fuse box + filter
