Default New S60 T6 run in.

Hey guys Australia launched the S60 on Friday at the international

motorshow in Sydney. We launched it on a harbour cruise to VIP's that evening.

I was on of the lucky few to run one in over the weekend.

What a good drive and I can tell you this thing is well run in. I have her a hard time through the bends up the snowy. Giving her a bit of gas coming in and out of Griffith.

I was no prepared for the snow. I drove in shorts and spent the night in Tumut at 0 degrees.

All in all it was a good trip. I get to do it again soon

Check out my pics at this link below.

Some like it, some dont.

These cars are made for the Volvo faithful really.

Although we are seeing plenty of converts from other brands which is a good sign for the company.

5000 sales a year is not too bad really

That rear end reminds me of the new Jaguar XF - which I like a lot.

Only $65k? I thought they were alot more expensive than that. I take it you work for Volvo?

I like the new nose, it might not work perfectly in pictures, but in the flesh it's nice.

The exterior is classy, but the interior is very early 1990s to me.

Volvo have really stepped up their exterior styling though in the past 15 years. From boxy cars that were reliable as can be but boring as sin, they've really picked up their game and full credit to them.

In my opinion, Toyota could really take a lesson from that. Their cars still remain boring as sin to look at with conservative, squarish styling. They could change that image by developing something with a little more pizazz. I know people that have driven Fords and Holdens but just want reliable transport and they go for Toyota for that reason. THe one thing they note is that the car generally isn't quite as nice to drive or sit in.

Yeah id be going Renault C5 before that for sure, if you took the badges off the front it would look like a Hyundai.

That little 3 doors sports hatch they have is nice though, with the R design kit.

I read on GoAuto that the base model with the ecoboost derived 2 litre will be around 52k, do you know if that will include the leather interior? When do they go on sale?
Great photos by the way, the road/river crossing looks a bit hairy!

@ MickyB they can be ordered now.

At the moment there are only the 2 variants available in Aus.

T6 - 224kw 440nm for around the 65k mark

D5 - 151kw 440nm for around the 58k mark

The road was hairy but she behaved very well.

This one is going to Drive magazine later this week so I had to get the kms on it quick smart.

Saturday Morning picked up the car and headed from Sydney to Griffith via Forbes.

I encountered a bit of the flooding that hit that area. I arrived in Griffith around 16:30

had a bite to eat filled up with fuel and made my way to Wagga Wagga via Narrandera. Took a quick drive around town

and started again towards Tumut where I spent the night. I made it just in time as the Emergency services started clearing

all the debris from the flooding. Sunday Morning I made my way along the snowy mountains to Khancoban though to Jindabyne, Cooma then Sydney.

Through all those towns I drove through a decent amount of snow. All in all it was a good trip and the S60 behaved very well. Stuck to the wet

ice covered roads like **** to a blanket. I must say this vehicle is a great advancement for the Volvo brand. I pushed her hard thought the twisty passes

and not once did she want so slip and slide. The continental sports fitted on all fours do compliement the handling.

^^^^

I heard somewhere that model shares the identical platform to the MAZDA 3.
Although the VOLVO looks a lot nicer methinks.

The S40 sedan does share the same platform.

Infact the previous model mazda 3 had the same brakes, hubs and shared many of the suspension components

LOL yes Citroen...amateur mistake

Yeah thats the hatch Corzza, the front works on them (and seemingly the rest of the range).

I guess you are right, styling is a hard one, the S60 isn't bad but not quite the volvo theme I like perhaps. I love the Citroen, and that in wagon form has a good chance of being the next family bus but I dont think they are bringing the manual diesels in for some silly reason, they all seem to be auto on carsales.

The thing about Citroen to me is they look far too similar to the Renaults. They are somewhat changing with the current line up.

Their engines are great
