Exclamation New Year's Eve Family Fireworks Melbourne

I'm hoping someone can help...
I know that there are fireworks in town at 9.15pm for families but I don't fancy battling the crowds in there with my fiancee to watch them.
Anyone have any ideas on where would be a good spot to view them from around Melbourne?
I was thinking up on Mount Dandenong (at the Sky High carpark), which is not far from both of our suburbs , but I'm not sure if we'd see much from there.
Any other suggestions?

Just go out to a nice quiet little suburb like epping or lalor and you will have a plethora of backyard fireworks with unobstructed views for your viewing pleasure.

Sky High would be fun.

I went to Albert Park lake a couple of years ago and was able to park on Lakeside Drive and still see my car from the top of the hill there.

There were mainly families around and could easily see and hear the fireworks in the city as well as fireworks from the man made island at the park, so it was good and not over-crowded.

apparently this year the fireworks in Melb will be let off from the tops of buildings in the city, designed so that they will be visible from anywhere in the suburbs where the city can be seen.

I've been in to the city for the fireworks a couple of times, driven each time. I havent found the crowds too bad and each time I have parked in a multi-level carpark in a back alley near the World Trade Centre on Spencer street. Then watched from the Spencer street bridge.
