someone might have said it. but the main thing im thinking is it better not affect people currently on their p's that would be stupid as people would allready have gone out and got their cars etc it would be stupid to force thousands of people to sell their cars.

That's the whole point of the laws, isn't it?

I was lucky - I was on my P2's in NSW when our vehicle restrictions came in.

Question,

I have been on my P plates for over a year, and thinking of buying a XF with a Turbo modification.

Would i be able to drive this under the new laws, since I already have my licence? A bit lost on this one.

Yes, you would. It's only for people who get their licenses after the laws are passed.

It doesn't pacifically say current probationary drivers for power restriction though..

Also.....May as well throw the rest in here whilst I'm at it...

Also....

Also....
hang on a tick!
do all these laws come in on july the 1st!?
i thought they were introducing them slowly!?
also, what the heel do i do if i'v already bought a car!? they cant tell me to sell it!
i dunno how the cops are going to inforce these rules anyway, it means that for 3 years they will be wasting their time with P-platers who CAN drive those cars. stupid government!
all we need is a decent driving corse to wake people up, my first crash sure as hell woke me up! if i hadve had a driving corse i wouldnt have had that crash either.

I have gathered that their is no passenger limit unless you get caught doin illegal stuff then the magistrate decides whetha to put it in place or not. n also this may not be 100% true but i read on a random forum that you can have exhaust systems ect but no engine mods. they are more so cracking down on superchargers and turbo's. superchargers and turbos are classed under a high performance mod, engine mods like cams and mild and exhausts and h/f air intakes are low. it is almost impossible for the avg cop to check for things like internal engine mods.

No, once you get your P2s (green Ps) you can drive manual, even if you originally got your P1s on auto.

I stand corrected. It seems they've changed the law (for the better?...not)

Obviously new drivers these days have enough trouble keeping the car on the road without the added stress of trying to change gears.....sigh...

Not all of us are like that ya know, been driving manual since I was 12, why should I be placed in the same basket as those who can't?

i learnt in an Auto AUS1. got my licence in Auto and now on my greens and i drive a manual. i can drive perfectly Fine thank you. i learnt to drive manual while i was on my reds. its just that when you do your reds on a manual they mark you quite harshly. its easier these days to just get auto licence then when your on your greens you can drive manual, and MOST people know how to.

Getting a manual licence shouldn't be an option it should be the the only one, as Miller said i have been driving manuals since i was about 12-13...
