If you won a competition and they said you have up to $100,000 to buy any car/s - what would you buy?
The only rules of the competition are: 1) It can be a used or new car. 2) It has to be stock (even if used) and remain unmodified for at least 2 years. If you modify it before then the promoter has the right to reposses your car. 3) It has to be street legal and registered. 4) You have to factor in the cost of running this car (fuel, insurance ect) on your actual salary/income. 5) No matter what change is left over you only recieve a MAX of $10,000 in cash as your prize. Example if you spent $90K on a car or $30K on a car you still only get $10K change from the $100K. 6) You may buy multiple cars up to $100K if you wish. So what would you do?

A VW Golf GTi for during the week, and a AC Cobra replica for the weekend! Or some other kind of muscle car, but a Cobra is a long term goal for me.
Im getting to the point where I dont see the value in getting something to good for during the week. I mean it gets scratched, dinted, shat on, racks up k's etc etc.

Tuff decision and I have changed my mind 5 times now but for the sake of an answer:
A 3 year old Subaru WRX Club Spec Evo for the daily and whatever tough looking Corvette I can get with the left over money for the weekend.

I wouldn't mind a 525i, otherwise a fully featured LTD, because if they go out of production, they might be worth some coin....

I wonder if a BFII Ghia and a Territory Ghia would come in under 100K.
I doubt it! Well then, maybe the BFII XR6T with full leather trim and sunroof & the aforementioned Territory Ghia? Would that come in under 100K? LOL! GK

Great thread.
I would buy a new Territory Ghia Turbo + a BA MkII manual XR6T or XR8. But of course there could be any number of other combinations that are not Ford as well. |

If i could find an unrestored example of an XW GT that would be my pick.. seeing that fully restored examples are heading over the 100,000 region!!
A 69 Camaro SS for around the (50-60 mark) An Orange XY GS (40 gs)

Datsun 1600 with Nissan skyline running gear and interior. I don't care about the no-modding rules - if it's repossesed, I'll just buy another one.

Import a customised Mustang. Or maybe try and spec up a Falcon through FPV - hmm, twin turbo V8 Falcon. then I'd get trail bike with the change.
When do I pick up the cash? |

hmmmmm my wish list:
1959 Bugeye Sprite for the Sunday driver ($17K) 2006 Kia Magentis for a daily driver ($26K) 2003 Jeep Renegade for bush bashing ($20K) 2003 PRB Clubman for the track ($27K) The last $10,000 would be invested at 9% or there abouts to help fund ongoing expenses. Ill be a happy chappy |
