Default Stolen Car dumped on my street

There has been a stolen car dumped on our street, Confirmed by the cops.

It's been sitting there and reported for nigh on 10 days and it's still there. Numerous people have reported it. It's in a horrid position just around a blind corner and isn't exactly a small car, in a dark brown that blends nicely in with the houses behind it.

Question: Is there anything we can do to get rid of the eyesore and potential hazard? The NSW police's actions and performance.. leave alot to be desired, especially when it comes to keeping us informed. :

It may be stolen, but if it has rego on it still, i dont think they can do much about it, get local council to slap a sticker on it, then in 2 weeks it will be taken away.

Sounds about right, they dont give a stuff about a stolen car, the owners stress and costs, or the fact it is in a dangerous position causing people to have near misses..ifthey are lucky.
Hell no, far more important to get that guy going 6kph over the limit on a clear, 2 lane highway in perfect conditions, he's a menace to society.

Just jump in, start it up, do about 12kph over the limit around the main roads in your area and you should have cops all over you in no time.

Yep it's a bitch, I have two unregistered cars in my street at the moment, one directly out the front. Both reported in October, local authorities raced out an placed nice bright, pink stickers on both front and rear windows, and then put it in the "deal with in 2006 file". Seems local authorities want the owners to come and claim their dumped cars...

I have on more than one occasion thought of moving them myself or setting fire to the now rusting hulks.

Saw a couple of dodgy kids hangin around a car the other night on my way home and thought they might be stealing it. Sure enough, 10 minutes later it flies past me doing around 160kmh down a main road between suburbs. Where are the cops when you need them? Oh, thats right! Settign up the speed cam to catch me doing 5kmh over the limit. Im such a menace to society!

Get the locals to help you tow it to a major intersection, and leave it there... come peak hour, it will be moved.

Mate that's my theory too..

On the main street near our place there's been a VR Commode (Number plate HORNYVR :togo: )with a flat tyre sitting there since Xmas eve.. The only thing that's changed on the car is a bright orange sticker.. At least someone got to the windscreen before I did!

best legal way is to call the council, complain and get your neighbours to aswell, alternate to that find someone with a nice big truck and tow it off to some other place like the local council chambers front door and see how quickly it disappears...

Around the corner from us is a black Rice-Mobile that appears to be missing the engine (front sits really high). It hasnt moved since at least May 2003. I see it every day...and still chuckle most times. Great big wing on it too, so so sad.

Why dont ya wreck it? Not only will you get rid of it, you'll make some money out of it too!

Think of it as reimbursment for tarnishing the view _2: .

No wonder they don't find most stolen cars. They're sitting somewhere waiting for you to go collect them. I sure hope the authorities actually tell the owner where their vehicle is.
Still, i thought they took them to an impound or something.

Near me there was a stolen XD parked on the side of the road. Everyday for 2 or 3 weeks it started missing more and more parts. Then it got torched, and it sat there for atleast another week or two.

yeah i say go the bon fire!
i could be wrong but i think there is a law or bi-law that states something about taking possession of dumped/unclaimed property? i dont know how long it has to be there or who you have to see or any of that but it may be worth checking out with the council or local police.
i do believe too that if this is the case you can charge the proper owners all expenses incurred by removing it as well.
its a win - win for you!!
second thoughts it sounds like too much trouble......BON FIRE!!!!
