I quite often encounter unbroken/double white line markings that are illogical and are probably marked in error. Specifically what I'm referring to is when either breasting a crest or coming out of a corner an unbroken line may continue for maybe a hundred metres or more beyond the point where there is a clear view of the road ahead. Many times I have been about to overtake but have to needlessly delay the manoeuvre until beyond the unbroken line. Sometimes there is a legitimate reason for an apparent "mistake" in line marking because of a side road etc so unless you know the road it would be foolhardy to ignore the markings. Furthermore it is always illegal to cross an unbroken line so I guess we just have to live with the frustration and observe the rules.
