4WD carrying 17 people rolls in outback Queensland
Date August 12, 2013 - 12:59PM A four-wheel-drive was carrying 17 people when it rolled on an outback Queensland road, police say. Charges could be laid over the crash which happened on a dirt road on Saturday about 60 kilometres outside the remote indigenous community of Doomadgee in Queensland’s north-west. It is understood the group of travellers managed to push the vehicle back on its wheels after the crash and continue on their journey to Mt Isa. One woman was injured and eventually taken to Mt Isa Hospital as a precaution. Sergeant Glen Arrold said it was fortunate more people were not hurt when the overcrowded Mitsubishi Pajero rolled. ‘‘It could have been a lot worse,’’ he told ABC Local Radio. He said police investigations were continuing. ‘‘Just because we are out in the middle of the bush, it doesn't mean we can get away with anything,’’ he said.
