Default Rear Wheels Not Lining Up

I noticed after fitting my new wheels, the rear right hand wheel seems to be nicely in line with the guard, whereas the rear left hand wheel sits in about another 7 or 8 mm. Both wheels are measured to the same spec offset-wise.

I noticed when putting on the centre caps, one side wouldn't go on, but the other went on fine. It's as if the threaded stub coming out the center of the hub is slightly longer. Anyone else seen this?

My FG XR8 ute has the same problem, only it was about 13mm, so much worse.

I appreciate any help.

I'm thinking on just rectifying it with a 5mm spacer, but that's not the point.

Cheers.
