If only i caught the c### who took my car in the act.. I really really really wish i did. I would've broken his fingers one by one with the jack regardless if i got charged or not. I believe you should've done the same because the little b**tard is only going to take someone elses car later on..

I honestly can't understand peoples disrespect for the property of others these days. I went out for dinner with the mrs one night and returned to find two smackheads sitting on the boot of the car. Now, our spare car - or shopping trolley as it is more commonly refered to - is by no means a showcar, but that doesn't give anyone the right to sit on the f*ken thing! When i confronted them the guy turns around and says "ohhh but we didn't wreck it you d**khead".... so not only is he sitting on my car, he also has the balls to turn around and call me a dh. Lets just say they weren't expecting the sort of retaliation they encountered....

You did the right thing by letting him go, I hope you didn't hurt his fingers too much.

I would have given him $50 as well.

Anyway it turns out he was told to take the car for the wheels.

I actually felt sorry for him. We spoke for a while and he ended up saying that most of his lot don't listen for a noise to indicate the door is unlocked, they watch for the door button to come up. He told me to disconnect the "button up" bar. That way if a thief thinks like his lot, they won't even enter the car.

i threatened him that if i saw him in my area again, he won't walk away then proceeded to take me door trim off and disconnect the "button up " thing.

Just thought i'd let you know how some of the young ones think.
If it ever happens again make the call , help him sit down and wait , you can legally hold him with due care so dont leave marks .
I found some idiot trying to break into one of my odler collectable cars and let me tell you he fell down rather hard , was still resting when I left .
Good luck for next time ( as I am sure there will be)

i had an experience a few years back with a couple of kids. they had half a brick and they were throwing it at the front passengers window... i flew out side, i would have been within 1m of catching him... I would have killed him... but if i had laid 1 finger on him, i would have been in big trouble... one of those protected people when it comes to the court room...

i still have the damage to the rest of my car. pitty the cops are slow and useless... took 3 weeks and many phone calls for them to even note the house that they ran into after chasing them...

quietly got our own back, i never saw them around the street again!!!

YTOU ARE SOOOO RIGHT
slightly off topic but a resident around here caght some kids graffiti ing at night down at the local kids park . he dealt with it the old fashioned way. 1/2 hr later the police came to his front door and laid assualt charges . he now has a criminal record , and the kids may still be doing it .

In the heat of the moment (fear, adrenaline & going out of your mind) It'd be easy to do something illegal to the thieves.
I can just imagine in this case though, perhaps coming home to your whole house burnt down one day because they want the last word.

What about if you tell them off and make them take a swing at you. THen when you beat them up, you can claim self defence?

I would have taken a photo of the little ИИИИ too! I can imagine knowing someone has a photo ID of you, you wouldn't be going around there again in a hurry.

dunno... but as everyone else has stated, good work with the finger!

This sounds too good to be true …. ….We live next to a vacant block, have lots of trouble with young louts in the area using it for no good, seem always to be yelling abuse at some moron or another over the fence for some antisocial behaviour or whatever. Wife has said many times I am asking for trouble and will have someone getting revenge.
Just happens I was siting with legs dangling in the pool patting the dog when a boat emergency flare (alight) comes hurling over the fence landing right next to me and bounced into the pool (we would have normally had a plastic solar cover on the pool but had it off ready for a swim) anyway I picked it out of the water and threw it back some where near where I thought it came from and got up to see what I might have been setting on fire to see this kid running off with a burning flare on his backpack. He ran into the street trying to shake it off but it was well and truly stuck and seemed to be making quite a mess of his backpack. (maybe his back and hair as well)
I have never heard anymore about it, never seen the kid since, its actually been very quiet in the vacant block as well .

Actually, last night after picking up some dinner, I found a little ИИИИ trying to break into a Hilux, he bolted when he saw headlights coming.

This really has me worried, because where I saw him wasn't far from my house...

I reckon you handled it well. A bit of direct action and a decent talking too may help this kid out. Cops and charges usually help them more into it and they get taught worse tricks form the real low life pro's who put the orders out for cars or accessories for these kids to "pick up" anyway

You have to give kids a chance to make a few mistakes.

It brings back memories for me too and I didn't turn out too bad.
