Should I put on personalised number plates

Hi Guys,
I own personalised plates and just got an AU futura.
Should I keep the original plates as they are the original plates or should I just put on my personalised plates that I own?
The only reason why I am questioning to put them on or not is because I know when it comes time to sell it, people like to see original plates and not re-registered plates.
Or am I thinking wrong about it...

I see cars all the time that are advertised as "Plates do no come with car"... haven't heard of it hurting resale having different plates, doesn't make the car any less of a car.

I like to see original plates on a classic, wouldnt bother me on an AU though.

ITS YOUR CAR , Dont worry about the next owner . enjoy it for you . plates i would not worry about at all; custom parts are a worry , but plates no way .

Only really has an effect on collector cars, if you want to put them on then go for it

In QLD you are allowed to pay a fee and keep your original number plates (both the aluminum plate and the right to reuse the number)

I think they call it "customising" the plates (because you have the option of reconfiguring the plate style at the same time - but don't have to)

I did it when I bought my GT for the reason you raised (and it wasn't that dear anyway)

You need to do that at the time you "attach" your personalised plate to the car (again my recent QLD experience)

Put your personalised plates on while you own the car and put the original ones back on when you sell it.

most new owners change the plates anyway, just advise ford as when you use new genuine parts on the vehicle it makes it easier if there is ever a warranty claim in the 12mths 20000km after fitment of the new part and that way your car is in the ford system and current. mate you bought the plates for a vehicle to put them on so show them to all with pride....

Easy fix.

Take a photo of the car with the original plates. If the next owner, assuming you sell it wants the original rego number he can buy it as a personalised plate.

This will also work interstate.

In the big picture anyone who would not buy your car because it did not have the original plates is a bit strange anyway.

A friend of mine always gets new plates when he guys a car. His theory is that he will never be mistaken for the previous owner should there be any "baggage".

Put the personalised plates on....I believe when the car rego has expired, after a certain period of time, you've got to hand the original plates back in anyways. So no point keeping them for re-sale purposes, if this scenario occurs.

just looked at receipt. "customising" the original plate as per my last post cost $40.90

in QLD when you attach the personalised plate your original number goes back into circulation if you don't do the above.

I did so in case I decided I don't want to be a tosspot driving round with a personal plate anymore and wouldn't have to regret giving up it's original reg # Plus a prospective buyer one day may have the same choice

Also need to fix up a little rust spot in boot lid.
Also, need to find a pesky oil leak.. hope it is not coming from the transmission...but I am getting that serviced next week anyway.

Mine has done 140,000 k
I know you have gone all out and spent a bit of cash on yours (Looks great by the way).

great color mate. Real nice. Not many in that color that I have seen in the 75th.

Cheers for the comments about my car. It's been a bit neglected of late dur to work and other commitments but Im putting some cash and time back into it today as I type. Getting the motor looked at today due to power loss and possible head gasket issue. Still drive and idles fine, just found some gunk in the catch can which looks like a mixture of coolant and oil. So not good but it will be back on the road again soon.

As for leaks to your car is it engine oil or trans oil?

After a second look, I think it is coming from diff.
The auto trans guys are gonna take a look this week.
I don't think it is serious. Might be a diff seal/plug? not sure.

when the Sun comes out this Sunday... will give her a wash and take some shots and put it in the " Show us your AU" thread.
Yeah, the Monsoon blue colour almost looks black at night but the metalic comes out in the day time.
