Guys, lets not get carried away until some further info is released.
It's not like the air france crash last year where the ACARS showed over 37 failures which indicated aircraft related crash.

To be honest I'm not too familiar with the A330 (although air france was pretty obviously aircraft related) and for my own reasons don't really want to be. Some of the lame's on my qf post who service these things would be the people to listen to and none of them appear to have speculated here. I love the Boeing v airbus stouches (sort of like ford v holden) and have participated in many of them but this will most likely end up as a crew related crash.

As a general rule though, most mid air crashes where a plane disappears are aircraft related; most crashes on approach or departure are crew/atc related.

BTW Danny, what you haven't included in your judgement of the 747 is just how many of those crashes were terrorist/atc/crew related.
