What do you guys think the best and worst Ford Falcons were?
I hear a lot of Bad things about the Ea's and AU's and nothing but good things about the XY. What are your preferences?

What bad things have you heard about the AU? They are known as one of the most reliable Falcon ever.

These type of threads only lead to big arguments. I actually don't mind AUs. The styling is something that has to grow for a while, but I quite like the XRs and TS50s. Reliability wise, they are fantastic. I've never heard anyone complain about their AU. Of course though I'm a fan of XWs and XYs. |

In response to the first post, based on low sales and damage to the Falcon brand, the AU would have to be the 'worst'. Apart from the low sales, I don't see anything wrong with the AU - especially the XRs. The best Falcon is quite debatable.
I don't see this thread staying peaceful for too long. |

I "dislike" the AU series the most.......plainly and simply for the styling or lack thereof. As an overall car, I'm sure its great........but I just couldn't live with it.
Apologies in advance if I've offended anyone......... The Ford that does it the most for me would be the XYGT, even the XY generic models are beautiful.........If I had the unlimited choice of which AUS FORD to have in my garage............that would be it.........XY351GS or GT......... |

Pffft, everyone has an opinion, if you dont like a car say it.
I think mechanically, the AU was the pinnacle of the late model Fords, but its hard to say a "best" or "worst".

It simply cannot be defined, as everyone will say something different. Even if half the forum voted for the AU to be the worst Falcon, that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. Opinions are not fact. |

out of all the fords ive ever owned,an XF taxi pack would have been the worst.
as far as the best one ive owned, AU 1 VCT XR6 would be at the the top of the list.although i loved the XD and XC utes i was rather dissapointed when ford dropped the twin headlights on the XR series.

the best/ worst falcon, it would all depend on the individual, as there are styling viewpoints, economical, reliability, performance, handling etc etc

I dont think there is a WORST or BEST falcon, just opinions from owners of all types of falcons made, some are happy with the older ones, some like there newer ones, i honestly dont think theres every been a very bad falcon, i mean you still see EA's alot so they cant be to bad!, Over all i think the worst falcon doesnt exist, nor the Best.

You would have to specify best/worst?
Mechanical, sales, style, comfort, design, ride, power, exhaust note... the list goes on... and all of these must be based on the time that it was released... ie, you can't say that the XB had no interior styling comapred to a BF.... Pointless thread because your not actually asking anything, and your only asking opinion, not fact... I love the styling of the BA (particualy the GT), but hated all XR's before the BA, but love the old skool GT's, and the exhaust note, loved the interior styling of the AU Fairmont/Fairlane and LTD's, I love the ride of my AU3 (but thats setup just how I want it)... But overall... my vote for best falcon ever would be GTHO phase 4... but some might argue seeing as though it wasn't really released, it's not a real falcon....

I find it interesting that people have named the AU as the worst because of it's controversial styling and apparent damage to the Falcon brand yet no one has named the XF/EA even though they did more damage by not having a V8 option. IMO that is the biggest mistake Ford aus ever made.

My opinion:
Function over firm, the AU would have to be the best Falcon ever. The worst ever would have to be the XK. It fell to bits because it wasn't built for our roads. |

i owned two EA and my first one was a 88 EA space 3.9cfi and i would say it was the 2nd Best car i ever owned
1st - BA XT falcon (current 2nd - EA spac '88 3rd - EL fairmont 4th - 1990 holden apollo 5th - EA GL '89 shape wise i think the AU was the worst, but hey the BA/BF are still base on the same chassis, and i really like the shape of that best well that could be any number of things and like the old xy's for that v8 note, to the interiors of the BA and the early E series to the tough looking stance. so pretty hard to say one or the other for anything here really, pretty much personal opinions and taste
