Was at the local Toyota dealer today and overheard what I think might be senior Toyota execs talking about problems with the delivery of the new supercharged Aurion.
Firstly, the predelivery union are complaing that regardless of what they do you can't polish a TRD. Then the marketing department are unable to think of a way to stop the TRD being number 2. And finally a new stock holding facility has to be build away from the capital cities as that seems to be where all the TRD burglers congregate. They also mentioned the not to be released high powered model, the P55 TRD. Something to do with sloppy handling or whatever. Just remember you heard it first of AFF........ |

I'm confused.... whats so special about a TRD that it can't be polished?
Or.... is this a sarcastic thread?

Interesting thing about TRDs, sometimes they float.

Plenty of highly polished TRDs out there.
If you can't make it good, make it look good. |

TRD sounds much like T U R D and there is a great Aussie saying, that "you can't poilsh a T U R D" It means that if something is crap, you can't make it look good.

Drove a regular Aurion today, very doughy off the line if you give a bootfull, which I think is the traction control intervening. I couldnt find a way to turn it off?
Very little torque steer, though will easily light the inside wheel in first and second gear in a corner. I could just imagine it without traction control. Has some driveline shunt when manually dropping from second to first gear. Shifter on the auto changes gear the wrong way. (like the 380) Can barely hear the engine, which makes it difficult when using the manual shifter. 380 in comparison has a shitload of torque steer and is all over the place, even when the traction control is on. But sounds a heap better than the Aurion. A supercharged Aurion would be pointless IMO, it would be even more dumbed down than it already is and would be just fast in a straight line.

HEY i have an idea. Lets put a supercharger/turbo in a front wheel drive car, endow it with lots of torque and power. AND THEN - we'll limit it all in first and second gear because its front wheel drive. yay. Hey whoever said "T U R D", im going to use that from now on. Anyway, i'll probably go have a sticky beak because it'll be the new "boosted" sedan on the market. Makes for an interesting game with the B series turbo until the new one comes.... |
