Default Bonnet Bulge or Bonnet Scoops

Hi all. Just wondering whether you prefer the bonnet bulge on the falcons or prefer bonnet scoops like the monaro and GTO.

Raised centre bulge with scoops, a la XB GT.

Yeah bulge looks tough i must admit but i like the scoops. I reckon the new monaro or GTO would be nothing without it. Sometimes there is one feature on the car that makes the difference between hot and not. I couldnt imagine a WRX without the scoop. If the fords had both then that would be game over. But then HSV probably say that Ford strapped.

Bonnet bulge on the BA look the goods - don't like the scoops/vents on the new monaros they don't suit the style at all, they look better and remind me of the ones on the XB/XC falcons.

I have to admit I am in love with the bulge, one of the reasons I had to have an XR8. I like the fact that they have shaped the bonnet and not just tacked on some plastic like HSV did for the VL and VN gp A's.
A thought I had was a XB GT bonnet made to fit a BA XR, think it would look tough but there is the problem of whether it would be the correct thing to do (very different cars)
The Monaro nostrils suck, I wonder if it ever gets a runny nose and those guard vents on the SS bite big time. It is obvious they are not functional because they are so pathetic. Holden is losing in cred that they had in my opinion.

It is not just a styling issue, I'm sure (as ugly as they are) the nostrils serve a purpose.

Sorry Racecraft, but those nostrils are for show only. have a close look at them and you will see that they a blocked. Also the side vent on the SS is only for looks and serves no functional purpose.

but so does the bulge and the monaro would still work fine without the scoops but you try and shut the bonnet on a xr8 or gt with out that bulge :

Yeah, they would have to be there for a reason, just as a shaker is, but they look off! The nostrils that is, not the shaker...

The bugle, hands down, no competition.

In fact, the bulge is so good, there are many Commodore owners putting them on their late model Commodores. They look sh!te.

Ford only thought of the bulge not the bulge/shaker combo.

yeh the nostrils look terrible on the GTO, the bulge all the way. I'm yet to see the BA bulge with the shaker, so i'll reserve judgement there.

has anyone seen that really terrible movie with dennis rodman and the GTO? its awesome to see a monaro cutting sick around san fransico!

Why not both? Bulge and small Scoops.. :hihi:

This bulge with the tiny scoops is available through HO in Melbourne.

Don't like the small scoops at all. They look like they belong on a Focus or something.

And I don't believe I approve at all at the direction the owner is trying to take the falcon on the left (the blue one). 'MYXRHO'? The HO badging in the bottom grill?

I love the XR8 bulge, it looks as tough as. But I've always had a bit of a problem with the way it drops off at the back (towards the windscreen). The shaping just seems to nosedive a bit too quickly.

Monaro scoops look disgraceful. Not enough shaping gone in around them to make them fit properly (ie: Run off channels below flutes on XB/XC bonnets). Makes them look homemade.

at bathurst last year i had a good look at the monaro scoopes. did you know that the scoopes, grill and lower grill all have different mesh. i forget wether its just size of the holes or totally different styles alltogether but thats what pi**ed me off about the monaro scoopes. i think they look good.

anyway on the XR8-GT id just leave the buldge. those two little scoopes look crappy (imo). i also dont like that weird shaker thing some people have (possitioned at the back of the bulge) it looks tacky (again imo). i dont mind the old style shaker on top.
