Are you being serious? Numerous scams of this type have been posted before.

To put it bluntly an enthuiast would know that anyone who wants to sell their GT in the first place would want the most money they could get, and that is far far more than $8k.

I am sorry for you if you are indeed genuine. There are some pricks in this world.

no need to flame him i guess, just basically goes down to "if it's too good to be true.... "
and it also shows people that these really are scams.

I doubt he did think an XY GT would cost $8300. That's what he paid as a deposit.

It would have paid to read through all the old posts or ask for advice prior to commencing the purchase. There have been many posts warning of these scams, especially with late model cars.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
P.S. don't be afraid to ask questions, these forums are a wealth of knowledge.

Its a known scam thats been going around for a year or two.
Occasionally people from the forums have had their cars advertised that way unbenounced to them!

Sorry mate, and keep your chin up!

you basically said you don't/won't do something because of a very minute chance of a negative outcome.

IE: guy gets scammed in the most obvious way buying an aussie muscle car from Netherlands, and this makes you not want to bid on ANYTHING on ebay??

As everyone has said, these scams have been around for ages.
If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
With any major purchase ie- House, Car etc, ensure you sight the goods before any cash exchanges hands.
If I had an XY GT, Ebay would have to be the last place I would sell it anyway.
I can now see why they are still targeting Aussies!
Cheers

Didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to fall for it, guess I'm wrong.

Who the hell puts $8000 down on a car unseen even if it was legit? Especially a GT of all things.

I bet there's more GTs in the Neatherlands than Australia. How about no, you crazy dutch bastard.

The golden rule with collectable cars (or large $ bargains too good to be true) is INSPECT it first, without question to verify its genuine first of all, but also verify the seller is genuine.
