I can't believe what I saw today. There was a dark grey Eunos driving through Clayton with a large swastika taped across the bonnet. WTF???
I understand this symbol has a different meaning in some cultures but if these guys weren't neo nazi's or something, you'd think they'd know enough not to display it like that. :

was it a swastika, did the arms point clockwise or anticlockwise. Anticlockwise is the buddist(I think) symbol for peace, albeit not often used after the winter of 1945

Yeah, it means peace and equality and things like that, Hitler reversed it and twisted it 45 degrees to mean hatred and superiorness.
Although it freaked me out a bit the first time I went into a Buddist temple, seeing it on the foreheads of the big Buddahs |

I'd certainly hope so.
I am not a buddhist, but their beliefs I respect. But if it was a swastika, then I'd spit on the car. Enough said from me. |

Just asking for trouble. I think people who deliberately do stuff like this i.e. use offensive language, symbols etc just for shock value ought to be shocked themselves - with a car battery to the groin.

People who need to put such **** on their car probably haven't got any groin to speak of...nor a brain.

The swastika as used by the nazi's had its open face turning clockwise, and was not always turned at 45deg..

Hitler didn't design the swastika, it's actually quite old. Everyone's free to express themselves etc etc yadda yadda yadda.. BUT. If your views are so out of whack with the rest of the world as this then you have to be prepared to accept the consequences when people want to drag you from your car and beat you to a pulp. And the rest of us cheer them on.

The Swastika is only a symbol of the death of many jews...
I don't think genocide is a welcome thing on this forum, or anywhere else on Earth at that... |

I am putting up only links to these pictures so as not to post the pictures on the forum. Buddhist version Nazi version Buddhists wouldn't put the symbol on their hood either. It's not a thought that would occur. Steve

forgetting all the connotations etc, the Swastika is a GOOD looking symbol.
it looks great IMO. BUT, it represented German facism, white power etc etc. Being half german, im not exactly proud of whate germany did in the war, and it is a shame that the symbol became so evil. whatever... i think there are much worse things than having someone display a swastika on their car. Burning the Australian flag for example? also one more thing. the swastika, before rotated, also represented the 4 L's. luck, love, light and life.

censorship is a dangerous thing.... Hitler was accused of it in WWII, yet these days how are our governments any different? It's ironic that the German Government is the most hypocritical of them all!! They do everything in their power to supress everything from freedom of speech to a flag an individual wants to bare...Hell its illegal to even fly the German flag above your home over there.
Anyway, there is nothing wrong with being proud to be "proud" and if I want to wear the southern cross on my clothes or car or whatever and someone else wants to wear the swastika on his car...so be it mate |

The nazi's stole/borrowed the swastika from the Tibetans whom use it as some sort of religious symbol. But people recognise in this day and age for what it stood for in the 30/40s.

I actually thought it originated much, much earlier and was used by Native American Indians - obviously with a completely different meaning to what Hitler gave it.
It certainly asks for trouble in this day and age.
