It has been done, I've heard of it happening to a ford dealer in central NSW, car ended up in perth. Smooooooth. Apparently because they handed over the keys without any official contract as to what the test driver could and could not do the cops weren't interested.

A point of proof of theft is dishonesty. One must prove that by overt actions or intentions.

Heard that on the radio.
It's a bit odd. I wonder if he bought it. More often than not you're accompanied on a test drive, be it private or dealer sale. |

It can happen here as you are giving the person your keys and permission to take it for a drive pure and simple. Car dealers have protection as you sign a contract with them when you take it. My brother got done similar to this when a dodgey dealers check bounced and the police said they could do nothing as he sighned car over.

Some car yards allow you to take a car over the weekend for extensive testing .... although there are conditions you usually have to sign to though before taking a vehicle on a test drive ... it's up to the caryard though to point out this requirements .... or make you read the fine print on the paperwark you have just signed as well.
