I was at the lights today, behind 2 Nissan Skylines... one was about a 1998 and the other a few yrs older. When the lights went green they were off! Surprisingly the old one kicked ***...
So my question is for anyone who is familiar with the performance of these vehicles in stock... Is the XR8 or the XR6 turbo faster?

mate if all is stock you will stay behind. If its the 6 speed auto, the XR8 should be quicker to 100, but I would say the XR6T would pip it over the 1/4.
Both cars are quick enough.

According to the dealer at ford the xr6 is lighter anf performs better, quicker acceleration but over the 1/4 mile the xr8 wins.

My bet is that the Skylines weren't stockers. A Skyline with a bit more boost will run low 14's, like a stock XR6T.

In my experience a XR6T is faster than a R34 GTS-T, an XR8 is probably on par.
Start talking GTR Skylines, bye bye XR6T and XR8 in stock form. I love hosing ricers in their GTS-T's whenever i can.

If they were stock, you'd do em convincingly. Having lived in Syd for some time I ate many a Skyline in my EF 5.0ltr. I had an N/A XR6 and it was considerably quicker than the Fairmont when we lined them up on private roads, under controlled conditions, on a sunny day, with a paramedic & fire unit onsite. Oh, and a helmet

There is no way that a ef is going to beat a turbo skyline of any nature..the driver must have been a doush bag.
Xr8 should win as they have more low down, but as I said, once the xr6t huffs up it will win.

In my experience, driving both back to back, the XR8 should be a pooftenth quicker to 100, but then the xr6t will beat it down the 1/4 (for about the third time!) There is really stuff all difference etween them, both are good cars, do you want a V8 or a 6, thats the real question.

Yeh, the N/A Skyline are crap. I've seen one race an auto EF at the runs and Skyline got killed.

BTW - I'd back any stock BA XR (N/A incl) over a stock R33 GTS25t. Would have been a good match up when R33 was new though. Last edited by GTP006; 04-04-2006 at 10:22 PM. |

Thing is that most Skylines are not stock, as the engine and the rest of the driveline is really overengineered. Making more power is as simple as winding up the boost. |

I thought we where talking stock here...I know turbo skylines are not immortal, but stock falcons are not going to hassle them.

If its anything with a turbo and north of a GTS-T, then the Fords will struggle.
The skylines have an international reputation for a reason, either stock or modified. The same cannot be said for our fords - yet (dave_au gives a nudge to the typhoon) GMH8TR, no offense, but Magna Vrx's are known for getting ahead of 5L ELs. |

Now, that against an XR6T... i wouldnt call comparing apples with apples. What are some $100k+ cars we can pit against an R34GTR because an XR6T simply isnt in the same league (no too far off tho which demonstrates the value for money we're getting with these turbocharged falcons). Of course, we're talking stock.... Bent_8 - interesting comments about regency Friend of mine bringing in an EVO8 (on the boat as we speak i think) and they're looking at 3 months minimum to get the thing complied.

I think we should compare the GTR to a ferrari or a lambo or some other exotic, purpose built, limited build no race car.
Yeah rediculous i know But hey he took the price cap over $100k im just making the GTR look slow now. Ferrari Enzo 1/4 mile in 10.8@135mph Nissan Skyline 1/4 mile slower than that Last edited by BENT_8; 05-04-2006 at 06:08 PM. |

I think in compares it will come down to weight ratios and how much thing are weighting down the car and how fast the car would kick in the power
