Wheelsmag has a photo of the 380 on its upcoming front cover and on its website before launch.

Looks better than what we thought it would IMHO

Dosn't look too bad - looks like a Subaru Liberty though from that shot.

Yeah but wait till you go for a drive in a Liberty GT. Looks is where it ends I bet.

That Magna is definately better than the current Camry so maybe they could stick it to Toyota big time?

I'd at least be a bit interested in the car if it were RWD. But FWD? Mitsubushi and Toyota need to rethink the Aussie large car market. You'll never get an enthusiest in a FWD... I believe the 380 doesn't have the AWD either?

That bonnet seved its purpose on all XR's from series 1 to series 3. It is the same bonnet from the AU1 forte...
Also the 380 looks quite decent

Massive improvement over both the outgoing Magna and the US Galant in looks.

Say, that other Mitsubishi looks like a prospect for me though....!

AWD model may come depending on the success of the FWD, MMAL has not rulled it out, anyway the FWD/RWD issue has been done to death, most cars on the road these days in Australia are FWD.

Depends on whether or not you classify medium large being in this group as well.

Between Camry, Avalon and Magna, about 5000, then ad in Maxima, Sonata, Accord, Liberty? maybe 7,000? vs the RWD numbers of 7-9000?

I dont really think RWD vs FWD makes a real big sales impact on the large car segment as the majority of sales in this sector are fleet, and that usually entails more consideration towards price packaging. If Ford or Holden switched to FWD tomorrow, I wouldnt expect to see a decline in their sales of greater than 10-15%.

My understanding is that Mitsubishi has ruled out an AWD ....for now.
They've reduced the number of options available pending the success of the 380. If it's successful I'm sure they will bring out AWD as well as other options.

Personally, I like it. Hope it does well.

Hmm I think Mitsu is being a bit coy with AWD. They would be crazy not to do it and Im 99.9% sure they have most of teh engineering work done for it.

Mitsubishi have done NO work on an AWD version of the Mitsubishi 380.

I am also unaware of any falcon or commodore AWD,
why is this an issue?

Whilst the styling is OK its conservative and evolutionary. It doesn't look any more modern than a BA. I was hoping for something a bit more dramatic or revolutionary.

I know mitsu buyers are a conservative lot but I think it will look very out of date after the next round - VE, new Camry, next Falcon etc. Its just playing catch up.

It's amazing how similar these new aussie cars are getting... when VE, the Orion arrives, they will all look strikingly similar.

Wheels look tiny. The biggest they have is 16 inch, thats pretty pathetic for a large car.

Looks fantastic, everyone keeps saying it will give Toyota a run for its money, forget Toyota, Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore sales are suffering already at the hands of "crossover cars" like the territory and Kluger and Outlander, I think Mitsibishi are on a winner here and will only hurt an already hurting Falcon and Commodre traditional markets. The New 380 looks awesome!!!!!!!

Not true. I have seen the cars in the flesh and I can verify that the upper spec models have factory 17" wheels and tyres.

Mitsubishi released some information to the media a few months ago and stated that the biggest wheels they could fit were 16's. Have to wait and see, maybe they changed their minds.

What was in a press release from a couple of months ago must be outdated as there are cars rolling of the end of the assembly line this month fitted with 17" rubber.
