Especially after today's price drop on the Y. If they drop the Mach E to Model Y prices, I'd buy one.

Why did they drop pricing? Seems like as long as ships get in they are all sold beforehand?

That's what Tesla has traditionally done. They keep dropping prices as components get cheaper. It's why Hertz, etc stopped buying them because it hurt resale with the price drops.

Teslas view is very different to legacy. They will increase and drop in line manufacturing cost.

Also, because they can and still remain profitable per unit. Few more competitors entering the market so better to get ahead of them.

Yep, they have EVs to bring the fleet average emissions down so they can sell their more profitable F series in high volumes.

If they don't have EVs then they have to buy credits off competitors (see Stellantis buying credits from Tesla).

LOL…Ranger & Everest is the hill Ford Australia will die on and if they are ever stopped,
Ford will probably pull out of Australia completely, rather than compete with anything else.

1. Not enough to matter

2. Ford stopped building all Mach E last month at Cuautitlan
we are way down the peck order, UK will get RHD Mach Es before we do.
I doubt that Ford gives a flying’ F… about emissions beyond the Ranger PHEV
that’s already developed and ready to go whenever required…

It never ceases to amaze me how much money people will pay for dual cab Rangers and Everest
Back in Falcon Days, it was hard to get more than a handful of buyers to pay those prices for FPVs

So,
Just imagine if Ford AUS had developed single and dual cab Territory Utes by using Falcon Ute half chassis.
I bet that more than one engineer mentioned it to the brass but yeah, T6 was developed with Australia in mind…

It will always stagger me that off roading seems to be the main "car enthusiast" activity here in Australia these days. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it seems like the young generation that wants to have a fun to drive car for the streets has died out.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was...

I dont get caught up in VFacts rubbish.
But i totally agree, im 40. Me and my mates had 80's falcons, then 90s falcons and some kept on going (I diverted to euros for a little after, but came back)
But now the streets are full of p plate hilux's/tritons/navaras and the like. Its a totally different environment these days.

Two things...

1, the transition away from 'street' cars by the younger generations is a good thing. While there is still an element that do stupid things on the road, street racing and traffic light drags etc seem to be a lot less than when I was growing up. As a parent now of driving age kids, that for me is a big positive. I'd much rather kids be in to the off road scene than the things we used to do on the road.

2, referring to utes etc as 'off road' vehicles is also just a generation thing. Pigeon-holing things in to specific categories is old school. Times have changed. These vehicles, while loathed by some, are extremely versatile. Much more than the traditional cars we grew up with.

Actually, quite a few do, although the main attraction is capability to do so if ever required to do so.

I was helping a customer load up his F-150 Raptor the other day, I remarked on his choice of vehicle, his response was that his was a "real" Raptor and not the pretender. Had to laugh at that.

Against a backdrop of a 16 per cent increase in sales for American pickups, Ram reported 1040 vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2024 – a 36.5 per cent drop compared to the 1637 deliveries it made between January and March 2023.

Jeep’s 235 sales in March 2024 contributed to its first-quarter total of 730 deliveries, a hefty drop from its 1218 sales across the same period last year.

At this rate, Jeep is on track to post its lowest annual sales in more than a decade and a half. In 2023, it sold 4634 vehicles, the most recent low since the Global Financial Crisis-affected 2009 in which 4193 cars were sold.

Jeep is reaping what they sowed a few years ago, pushing volume into dealers that couldn't keep up and a lack of spares needed to deal with inherent quality control issues. Put it this way, Americans are strongly patriotic over their own brands, turning a blind eye to the cost and corner cutting..................something I don't think Stellantis nee FCA nee Chrysler understood, "how dare the Aussies have issue with our products".

I think the F150 has definitely taken sales off the RAM 1500. To me the F150 is a no brainer over the 1500 unless you specifically want a V8 or the 1500 Limited. Ford has the better dealer network and warranty.

Well, the Hemi V8 is not long for this world, it will be replaced by the Hurricane Inline 6. I wonder what that will do to RAM sales in Australia, the V8 has been the big drawcard for the majority of buyers.

I'm not surprised to see the F-150 outselling the Silverado at all. There is way more RAMs than them anyway by a large margin around here. The real story will be if Ford can close gap to RAM.

I wouldn't buy a GM brand anything on principle after all their bullshit in Australia.
