Default AUs begin to colonise the world

In what could be the most successful Aussie export since we sent those possums to that island in NZ, the humble AU has begun to spread it's wings and populate the globe:

and part 2

(Any UK or international Aussie Fords out there, feel free to join the thread!)

Being an ugly vehicle I will say the au forte I owned was the most reliable ford I ever owned; travelled all Australia with no issues and the old girl is still going strong as ever with its 3rd owner.

Its whats under the skin that counts. Ive had an 08 fairmont ghia for 11 years now, yes in my personal opinion they look good. I bought my brother an 02 au ute earlier this year as he needed a car and wanted a ute and i dont like him enough to spend big $. I really like it. Its nothing to look at from the outside, it drives really nice, obviously no race car, but no rattles, no leaks, none of the 'they all do that' stuff. The interior, thats the impressive part. For a base model xl the only minor wear is the steering wheel. Seats, dash, door cards, theyre all mint. It was originally bought from a dealer in Bathurst, 2nd owner who we bought it from was in Canberra. So that explains lack of rust anywhere. Its currently done 210k kms, so nowhere in the danger zone for an au. It was used by both previous owners for work purposes so the tub is a bit scratch and dent, same token its red and only ever lived outside so the clear coat is shot, but there is paint underneath it. Its super basic, no abs, no traction control, no electric windows so less to crap out. Is subsequently been lowered on 17s and had a catback exhaust fitted, so looks marginally better, but sounds better. And its a manual, even xr's theres not a huge amount of manuals out there. But it has really solid bones.

Can see where this'll end up. Any thread that involves AU looks always heads south.

Always starts with the AU lovers getting butthurt about their blind love for their ugly duckling when someone challenges it - its the redheaded step child of Ford Australia's design team

Susan Boyle is a talented artist, wouldn't pick her out from a lineup though.

Remember folks, it's not just about the looks - it's about where AUs and other Aussie Falcons got to. And if they do become a worldwide meme, will people from other countries take all our AUs, like they tried to with the XA Hardtops?

Also internationally, I think there was a LPG Taxi order of AU wagons to Hong Kong?

In the vids linked at the start, he says there's quite a few Aussie Falcons in the UK.

All the hate and memes has only driven the price and popularity up. One day a simple S1 Forte will break the record for the most expensive Australian car ever sold.

AU’s are gods cars, only up from here

I have a soft spot for the AU. I owned a series 1 classic from new. I think they have aged much better than their holden rivals in the looks department. It was only the forte that had the poorest look. Other specs were quite ok and the technology in them shaded holden.

A lot of younger guys seem to be wanting them. Three young fellas I personally know, all of a sudden have bought au falcons and tell me there the new hotness and apparently the au wagon is the holy grail . I never thought in a million years younger ones would get into them, I mean an xr8 looks hot but not an au wagon

Previous experience of owning an AU wagon and having a couple of birds in the back of it suggests you couldn't be further from the truth!
As for the video, I wouldn't call 'the forgotten world highway' as off road. Last time I drove it was in my old wagon a few years ago 👌

Yeah, wagon's are fun.
Now that the all Pommie backpacker's have left we have a whole new scope of wagons to choose from.

Whenever I take the AU2 SR sedan in winter white or the AU2 XR8 220 in
narooma for a run they attract attention and compliments. This has surprised me and increasing in its prevalence as they age with grace. Still wonderful to drive particularly on the open road.

I have always thought that the AU Ute was the best looking of the series.
AU front on a more squared body sort of thing.

ha,ha. your,ve done it now franco, priceless.
i reckon the normal au,s are ugly, but the twin head light xr,s are ok. the twin head concept finished with the au . and the designers weren,t brave enough to carry it on. i think ba and newer are boring bland designs , they should have kept the twin head light for xr,s

I think some fairlanes made their way over to the UK, probably as funeral cars if I remember right.

With the way things are going here in ozcatraz I might have to export my good one... along with myself.

Just wait another couple of years until the first s1's turn 25, and the Americans will be allowed to drive them, you probably won't be able to get an s1 Forte for under 50K, LOL
