Default 40 THOUSAND (hypothetical) SPONDOOLIES - for a used car

Following on from MercuryT's thread we're going to have another on what car you're going to throw down 40 thousand hypothetical spondoolies on.

The scenario is:

- $40K to spend on a secondary car (can spend less, or make up the balance in mods)
- No AU Falcons
- No strippers, nose candy, mortgage payments or other sensible uses of $40K allowed, has to be car and or car modifications related
- Can be multiple cars (ie give us your top 3 etc)
- Can be motorbike(s) or truck(s)
- Throw up images of the cars

While there's currently none for sale, I recently saw 3x E34 BMW M5's for sale for sub $30K recently:

- 250KW 3.8L I6
- Large Sedan
- Manual
- RWD
- 'Classic Plastic' looks

Modifications:

- Aftermarket ECU
- Freshen up Mechanicals
- Tune

Second choice:

E38 BMW L7:

- Only 899 built world wide
- Only 6 delivered to Australia
- $375K back in the 1990s
- 5.4L V12
- Could fire an RPG from the back seats and still miss the driver
- Bond villain cool

https://shop.peninsulabm.com/collect...3-auto-1999-07

Modifications:

- Aftermarket ECU
- Freshen up mechanicals
- Tune

Third choice:

JZS171W Toyota Crown:

- Classic Plastic
- JDM Luxo Spec
- Nonna's Doilies
- 1JZGTE Engine
- Fly under the radar to Bingo

Modifications:

- Aftermarket ECU
- 6boost turbo manifold
- Borgwarner EFR 7163 turbo
- Big *** front mount intercooler
- 3" turbo back exhaust
- Walbro 460 fuel pump
- 1000cc Bosch fuel injectors
- Turbosmart FPR1200 fuel pressure regulator
- Toyota Yaris Ignition Coils
- MV Automatics built A340 auto box
- New Nonna-spec doilies
- Tune
- Freshen up mechanicals

Should be good for 300KW/rears with those mods, ride in style to Bingo

I spent something approaching that figure earlier in the year.
Bought this;

I'll spend the change making it more like this one

Nice wagon!

Similar size to my R36 albeit yours newer etc.

A really handy size IMO - not too big so drives sweet not truck like, but can carry much more than a hatchback.

Thanks, I almost went for a 3.6l AWD Passat wagon (R36 successor) before stumbling upon the Audi. Yes they are a good size but this feels more truck like (body rolls like a bitch) compared to my 15yo Fords (Territory and RTV) which both handled much more nicely. Though I’ve already stuck 275 Michelin tyres on all 4 corners so it’s not lacking for grip. #quattro

Lol, not this one. It gets along fine but is only a 2.0 TDI

That's interesting - it would annoy me too. My R36 is probably too harsh suspension wise for some.

I like it but had passengers comment on how stiff (It's not modded).

Your Audi looks fantastic compared to mine so enjoy!

2016 JAC truck I could probably live with. $25 000
Isuzu cab, 3.8 Cummins, Eaton transmission, Dana axles, 7 ton GVM, full S cam airbrakes.

Gumtree says "needs a gearbox rebuild." - no mention of it in the trucksales listing!

To think that Toyota went from the sweet looking crown that I posted to the boats that Franco likes

I'll get flamed but this modded Maloo would do me nicely. I'd lower it asap.

Leaves 10K for my Caravan purchase on top!

My (modded) Maloo was extremely reliable - as was my BA Turbo.

Bloody coils kept blowing on my BA, yet never leaked oil ever.

The Maloo LS1 had a new oil leak by the time you fixed the previous one!! Was no drama etc just messy and a pain!!
