Default NEW 'Sniper' coils for 6T's!!!!!!!

Was just about to buy some Morocraft but just saw these totally new 'Sniper' coils as my XRT is breaking down under load very badly all the time its actaully quite dangerous.

Tried Goss coils, No good.

These snipers are around the same price as FoMoCo coils so i'm going to try them ASAP.

Japanese provenance is a good start. They’re what - $1 each dearer than genuine?

Who’s currently OEM for the latest version of BA-BF coils? Is it VDO, NGK, Delphi, Bosch?

I thought Visteon coil production had morphed into a part of Ford/Motorcraft, then been offshored to the usual place. Are they in fact still 85% American made?

I know an old post Franco but no definitely not. I went through multiple sets in quick time.

I can't remember which brand I eventually bought (off EBay) and they were great, never failed again but Ford were overpriced crap imo (plugs too)

General consensus says stock ford coils are the best.

The parts specified by OE meet more stringent testing to their own or industry standards than the aftermarket stuff does.

This car is making 1028KW/wheels on the factory ignition system until they started running into problems with it.

I'd say there's other issues with the electrical system if it was frying the factory coils repeatedly, if you get a bad earth on the electronics side of the coil/ignition system, that'll do it pretty quick smart.

I used to see a lot of audiophile argument about star vs point-point earthing, interesting it doesn’t seem to come up in highly stressed automotive applications.

Do the stock coils also do multi spark discharge? Trying to figure out how a coil swap alone, with no retuning or rewiring would achieve that unless it does it stock as well.

I've got the ACDelco LS2 'truck' coils on one of my cars, it's still sold as a 'genuine part' in the USA but it's a cheaper crappier coil than the factory spec Delphi coils.

Had one crap out in about 5000km, turns out they've got a 4% failure rate.

Chinese special - surprise surprise.

If you really want to go to a different coil the factory ignition coils on R35 GTR are very good items and have a lot of aftermarket support - there's probably a Barra kit in the works.

So, you’re implicitly saying Delphi coils are good gear?

I dunno i'm trying these as the write up says they have 'aircraft' electronic parts and they can continue pumping out power while under big loads which i dont think stock coils or the coils can do???

Worth a try???

Update........Sniper coils, NO GOOD after only about 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

Was driving a bit 'erratically' yesterday afternoon and all of a sudden huuge backfires started under load then misfiring at idle.

Have already refitted the old originals i kept so i can send the snipers back and get a refund so i can by FoMoCo coils.

Freaking hope they work o.k???

Not that it matters now, but I tried many sets of different snake oil type coils and at the peak of its eventual power and driveability I was running BF genuine coils from Ford.

Stay Genuine.

Why are you not using OEM coils? These have been proven to be very capable for a well over 400kw. How much power are you putting down?

Update....

Got onto a set of cheap second hand Ford coils (i know theyre second hand) for $60.

just threw them in and accelleration is much better but thers still some missing and hesitation 'sometimes'.

I'm running 95 RON fuel with new fuel filter and new Ford Turbo plugs plus CAI.

What else could be causing the hesitation???

Stuffed ignition drivers in the ECU, possibly.

Cracked plugs, gasket issues, cracked head, bore damage, valvetrain faults.

I'd suggest getting each coil pack input signal on a scope.

Just spoke to BPRD.

Possibly plug gap too big (gotta reset to .7mm)

And, ziptie all the coil loom connectors together as my connector locks are all brittle and broken possibly causing faulty connection.

Will do this tonight when its a bit cooler after dinner.

I think AFI or someone sell new connectors. Most release the pins from the back, so you can exchange the old housing with new.

Blody plugs were huuge @ 1.00mm no wonder.....theboost pressure was obviously blowing the spark of the splug during firing stroke.

Re3st all to .7mm and also used a small amount of RTV sealant on each coil so the connectors would stay on after the sealant sets.

Test drivinjg in HOT Melourne weather today it definately putting more power down but......I still does misfire .....sometimes???
