So apparently the Hellcat isn't enough for Dodge.
They're releasing the Demon, set to have even more power. Part of their marketing is this website with videos. There's a countdown to every video's release, building up the excitement (or at least that would be their plan) http://www.dodge.com/en/ifyouknowyouknow/ |

I was over my last dodge/mopar test drive pretty quick.
The gobs of power sensation quickly wears off once you realize its suspension is so crap it can never actually use its sheer grunt for anything other than wheel spin. Plus the one i drove couldn't drift/slide for **** either. Kept wanting to grip up mid corner or just spin out? Yet when i wanted it to grip up in a straight line and go it wouldn't. So like i said i got pretty bored pretty quick. I value /need my license too much for wheel spin every lights and going nowhere. But that could of just been the one i drove. I prefera car with a better chassis/suspension package. |

I think the Challenger is one of the best looking cars around, but honestly, I wouldn't want the hellcat, let alone whatever this demon is going to be.
I'd take one of the lower model V8s. I have a mate in the US with a Challenger, not sure which motor he got, but no problems with wheel spin, etc. Does fine even in the snow and ice. |

Havent driven the charger in V8 guise but the v6 was a real surprise packet maybe had too low expectations but handling and steering was above any other brands hertz v6 hire car special I have driven. They were based on a Merc global platform floor pan and basic suspension design (E Class and C Class) so while would be a stretch to call it related to Mercedes it does benefit from some of their engineering input.
Have a Jeep SRT and the 6.4 Hemi is a cracker of an engine, yesterday drove 800Klm in it and with the eco button on drops back to 4cly at cruise and returned even better economy than my FGX XR8 and considering both a weight and aero disadvantage is pretty damn good The rumor I have heard is Australia wont get any of the current generation dodge cars as they are end of cycle and next generation is based on the Alfa Giulia platform which will bring a level of RHD engineering already completed and as such any moves to make RHD market cars will be post the platform change. |

nice irony that you are all saying heavy over powered and wont go around corners yet thats the exact commentary many say about a falcon also :P
There is no perfect car, so better to have a car that makes you smile in doing what ever its good for |

They are still at least 150 to 200 kg heavier than a Falcon V8.

The phrase "Over powered/wont corner" is also interchangable with "Oh no, did I leave my tampons in my husbands handbag?" - and thats from the men. What corner in Australia exists where this beast wont be able to take at full legal speed limit? Oh, but race tracks exist you say? And I suppose you take your lower powered well cornering VW Golf there then? Here is how the Hellcat corners: |

Is that what a muscle car is all about?
Way too much power and seriously dangerous. Anything less takes the fun out of the driving experience. I'll take mine in black. |

The rumours are that this will be a wide body Challenger... so they are able to fit wider Tires on the it... so hopefully more grip.
The original reason for no wide body and wide tires was to keep costs down and allow it have a some what low entry point.. its about $60k US for one of these in the states (this was stated by Ralph Gillies. but as the model continues on for extended period, the have needed to update to stay relevant, as originally the next stuff was due 2017/18.. but as all FCA products of late, it was delayed to 18/19/20 for next gen Challenger / Charger / 300. This Challenger is the closest car to a true "muscle car" the mustang Camaro are now sports cars.

Not sure how legit this is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajrQttQ71yg
skip to 1:28 for some very basic pics. Rumours are that 1500 will be made. Wider fenders and skirts so it can wear some massive rubber, along with a retro bonnet scoop. Horsepower, anywhere between 800-1000....and a race-fuel button? |

Weight reduction no doubt. Throw in wider tyres and more HP, will pull some serious times. |

Let's face it...at least they know how to advertise cars in the USA, unlike Ford and Holden here who are hamstrung by nanny-state advertising restrictions, or just plain laziness.

For that coin I would buy the Commodore GTS R and pocket the $35,000, and have a better all round car and track vehicle.
