Default Films that bring waterworks

Recently watched a movie based on a true story called "Hachiko: a dogs tale" and damn that lump in the throat was hard to swallow, even though ive never owned a dog haha

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhEHr7B1QiU

Im usually an un-emotional kind of guy, but some movies or scenes just get to me, much to the amusement of my family. Another couple mentions off the top of my head would be "Gran torino" and "Big Fish"

Which ones have put a visible dent in your 'pfft I dont cry over movies' ego ??

Marley and Me...Eight Below. The frozen wasteland of Antarctica serves as the background for a tale about the bonds of friendship and loyalty. Three members of a scientific expedition, Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker), his friend Cooper (Jason Biggs) and an American geologist (Bruce Greenwood), must leave their beloved sled dogs behind after a devastating accident and increasingly perilous weather conditions. Alone, the dogs struggle to survive the harsh Antarctic winter...

The end of "Bicentennial Man" with Robin Williams, based on the novella by Isaac Asimov.

Of course, if they had tweaked the movie slightly and followed the ending of the original story to the letter, there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house. It's a lot more powerful.

Of course being a manly man, it isn't tears...it's just dust blowing through the window.

Dare I say, there are moments in Chariots of Fire, I think where the movie is speaking to my soul. I'll keep the thread on movies but there a few books where I've had to put the book down and go for a bit of a walk around the room. Powerful when the author or director kinda does an unlock on your sentience.

I've got a few that get me actually, the two that stand out the most are Forrest Gump, when he's telling Jenny all about the lad and Braveheart when he dies, no matter how many times i watch braveheart i always cling on to a hope that he survives, silly really, but there you go.

"August Rush" ... If you don't cry at the end of this movie you have a heart of stone. Weird thing it has a really happy ending but it still makes you cry. Very underrated movie that has Robin Williams as a kind of good bad guy. You can pick it up in Jb Hifi for $6, its a bargain. Your wife will love it, your kids will love it. Has some beautiful music in it too. The movie is about an orphaned boy who is a musical genius. It is a must see.

Cheers Mike

Passion of The Christ. Makes you not want to do bad stuff, if that's what it really cost Him.

And yes, The Notebook closing scene. Makes a man question his masculinity to cry over this, but I guess there's that part in all of us that admires the real power of love, as sappy and weak as it seems.
