You could reduce your trauma further by actually driving and enjoying the thing.

Once is shuts, the price of zero km, rare, new Falcons will reflect demand.
But that's not why I'd block an XR6 Turbo ute. Besides, I'll continue to drive my 50K BFII XR6 ute for another decade. |

That's never going to work - no new car ever has 0km. I'd at least drive it once every few weeks to keep the seals wet etc.

Sorry, but my call on this is Photoshop. Unless it was physically picked up—literally—off the assembly line, a zero reading is impossible.

Simple question mate.
Anybody going to store the last Falcon? But since you've started, another end of supply, the Landrover Defenders, seem to have gone up $10K in the last year. Geez, who would have thought the bleedin' obvious. I'm sure the Trolls will argue the point, but like I said, I'm not blocking one to speculate. What any bloke may or may not bid for a rare, new Falcon bothers you not me. |

That's about the stupidest comment I've read on this forum.
According to you, Ford should not display preserved vehicles at it Museum in Geelong. Let's all just drive cars into the ground and in ten years lament their passing. Here's to putting new collector's cars on blocks for the Daewoo drivers of tomorrow to drool over in years to come. |

Problem is that 100yo cars are simple, mechanical things which can be fixed with simple tools. A 100yo FGX will likely be a non-runner as the plastic will have degraded, electronics failed an no one knows how to fix them (much like early EFI is now). Might as well drive that FGX and enjoy it while it's useful .. then store is as a static display when it becomes all too hard/expensive. |

This is a large part of the reason why the old iron has a certain collector value, relatively easy to work on and restore..................looking at the way cars are built today, I can not see any long term collectable future for them, let alone a time when it will be viable to restore them. Look after them, drive and enjoy them, then move them on when the time is right, but don't expect to make money out of it because it won't happen, pure and simple. Cheers Mick |

Couple of ways to look at it, you could either:
1) Invest $$$ into buying lots of Falcon parts now and stock them, sell the parts at a premium price to those that run them into the ground and / or mothball them, or 2) Mothball the Falcon and buy parts from person in scenario 1, once parts starts decaying, or 3) Run the Falcon into the ground and buy parts from person in scenario 1, for parts that are broken, or 4) Buy the Falcon, drive it, look after it and live with the fact that inevitably, you will be driving another NON Falcon car thinking how good your old Falcon used to be...

Buy it, take it out for some skids. Wash it, look after it, drive it, do more skids and enjoy it. *** leaving it in the shed IMO.

Tedious.
Pristine 1980 Ford Escort with just 12,000 miles on the clock goes on sale for £37,500 - more than 12 times its original cost. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...inal-cost.html |

I can put my car on carslaes for $100,000. Doesn't mean its worth that It's still a bad investment even if it does sell. Let imagine the owner invested that original £3000, and instead of insurance and maintenance of £500 a year for the last 33 years he invested that too, at 5% annual return he'd have £55,000. Way more than what he's trying to sell this Escort for. He should have just enjoyed it all that time
