Cool but very clinical....and safe. Miles away from being anything like HO down the Hume.

Awesome video. Might be old but looks like only 200 people have viewed it. Good post.

Sounds epic at full flight. And that looks like the stock fpv pod filter.

Better aero would have done it IMO.

Had both the speed and rev limiters removed.
I also think something else was played with due to the heat.
Can't remember now but there is another thread on it here somewhere.

Awesome vid, and concur with other comments....love that whine....!!!

Anyone know what the FG X XR8 is speed limited to? Is it the same 265km/h as claimed in the vid for the GTF?

Amazing to see almost 2 tonnes of falcon sedan doing 297 KLM/h....
Impressive. That last 5klm/h probably needed another 50kw to achieve, so a tuned version would easily achieve that 300 and then some.....so long as the doors don't fly off.

Good to see Wheels giving some Kudos to the Falcon for a change...had to pinch myself and listen a couple of times to be sure the comments were really that positive.

I think all that is needed due to the heat over 30 degrees, lengthy periods at high revs, was intercooler, bigger fuel jets, a tune, and then I think quite a bit more than 300 kph is achievable, by that I mean not just 1 or 2 kph over 300, but a more material increase-what is anyones' guess.....

I guess it also depends on the gearing - right ?
It might have maxxed out the revs at that speed as well.

But I guess a more stable and cooler intake temp and a bit more power would probably nett @ 310. I reckon.

Anyone thinking what I'm thinking?

Pretty cool video. I have some nerdy thoughts about it below.

Being an aviation enthusiast, the first thing I thought was how the Robby R44 helicopter will keep up with the car when the chopper tops out at 240 km/h?

I don't think multiple drones were used, judging by the speed the camera ship was going, so I think the finished sequence was made up of several edited runs put together.

In the Wheels article I thought they said it had an upgraded driveshaft.

They also had to relocate the diff breather as it was leaking onto the exhaust creating a smoke screen.

Mid 30s ambient would've been a factor. Drop the temp by 10 degrees 300 for sure

Dropping the temp also increases the air density. Cars with a drag coefficient as high as the FG would need more than a couple more kilowatts to make the speed. It was only 2 years ago that the GT500 cracked 200MPH. It has a butt load more power, and a better drag coefficient.

Back in '04 a tuned BA XR6T hit 307kph. But apparently the aerodynamics of the BA was so unstable at 300kph that it was wandering left and right down the runway like a snake, would have been a certain fatality down that NT Road.

Yep I think it was a silver BA running a APS kit, was in Wheels or Motor magazine iirc. Would have been interesting pulling it up with ba brakes....
