Back in the country 2 hours and I see these on the way home from the airport. First thoughts were to try and find out if there is a spare seat on that plane before it leaves for the UK again, because this place has gone to crap while I've been gone!
The first one was a commodore wagon completely covered in astro turf. At first I thought it must have been a promotional car but it had no advertising or anything on it anywhere. Sometimes ya just gotta shake your head and ask "Why?" The second was a V6 Commodore with Chevy badges on it! As if it isn't a big enough w*nk on the V8's now the idiots are doing it on V6's! It's just downright embarrassing for all the normal commodore drivers out there! Bigboppa |

That wagon often appears at shows. Thought it was for a turf company

No that wasn't it. This one had no advertising on it whatsoever. And it just had normal number plates. It was driving through rockdale about midday today. And it wasn't done as well as the one in the pic. It was a very rough job. They probably saw that one of yours, thought it looked good and tried (unsuccessfully) to copy it.

Turf car isn't local. I live / work in Rockdale.
Don't worry, last weekend a saw an i45 that was totally black with chrome garnishes up at the entrance... can't say if it looked good or bad but it certainly made me do a double take!

Saw a fairly new Camry yesterday at the display village, had staggered rims, the rears looked at least 10 inches wide and the tyres were just as wide lol.

Hey, when we owned a VX Series II Lumina with the V6, I really wanted to stick a Buick badge on it. They were round, nicely enamelled, and the exact size of the round chrome lion badge on the bonnet and boot.
Mainly, I wanted to do it to make fun of the guys putting Chev badges on V8 Commodores...after all, it made about as much sense as what they do. The V6 engine was a descendant of the original VN Commodore V6 which was actually a Buick V6 turned north-south to drive the rear wheels (which is obvious when you check where the water inlet for the top radiator hose ends up, at the back of the motor...little bit of trivia for ya). |

Chevy Lumina's in the US have the V6 east west front wheel drive setup. I used to live there and I owned one for a couple of years... was a ***** to change the back three spark plugs. Chevy...hmmm... I hated that car.

You must of been overseas for a while. I have seen captives, cruzie l, rodeo and most other Holden's with Chevy badges a number of times now.
I think it's funny when people try to fool others by placing wrong badges on their cars. I once saw a Hyundi sedan decked out with Merc, Amg and S class badges. Honestly what's the point. |

I saw a Japanese v-twin cruiser with a Harley Davidson badge on it last year. As a harley rider myself I just wanted to kick it over and put a match to it! And when I was at the wreckers getting some parts for my sons camry there was a corolla in there with a KIA badge on the boot. It wasn't put there recently as a joke either, you could tell it had been on there for a long time. Really?? A KIA badge?? Couldn't you find something a bit more upmarket to masquerade as? Bigboppa |

I replaced the Holden badge on the front of my Rodeo ute with an old chrome fridge badge that has a large bolt of lightning and a cog. Much more impressive than a plastic lion.

The way I look at it is if I buy a car, I really like it. I'm proud to own that car because I think it's great. Putting another car badge on it just seams wrong. But if it's a really obvious joke, like the Buick badge above, then that's pretty funny and all good. |

That's not all. I've seen Barinas and Cruzes with them as well. As long as they're happy, that's all that matters.

Yesterday along the Sandgate waterfront I saw a VS executive with SSS badges(1.5xSS badges) on back & sides, the other one being a VS wagon modified into a crew cab ute.
The crew cab wasn't that good looking but quality of work & creativity was quite good. Wish I had my phone to take pics.

Love that new Impala...we had the last shape model, looked very different to that one. It was an amazing car...wonderful features, drove really nicely, went hard, handled OK as well. Ours came from Alamo rentals as well, but in Vegas. |

We went to Europe via the USA and spent 3 weeks on the first stopover and 1 week on the way back. On the first stopover we picked up an Impala in LA and drove it to Chicago via Vegas & Mt Rushmore and came back to LA via Route 66. That was a fantastic drive. I really wanted to get a Taurus but the Alamo yard in LA had none available. So they just said take your pick of what's in the yard. The Impala was almost new and looked the goods so we took it. For a front wheel drive car it went really well. Had an exceptionally large boot. We had to get some snow chains for it before we drove over the Sierra Nevada's but didn't actually fit them. Here are some pics. The last pic was taken in Rapid City South Dakota . . the temp was -12 Celcius lol.

This was "our" Impala in the desert, as a contrast to yours covered in fricking ice! That must have been cold!
Taken just outside the town of Goodsprings...which I simply had to go and see once I found out it was a real place, because of the Fallout New Vegas Xbox game... Ours was an LTZ, top of the line, fitted with all the goodies. The only reason we got it was because there were no Chargers in the "full size" line at the Mccarren car rentals garages...bugger it! I saw a few cars over there that "make you shake your head"...mainly because they were perfectly street legal there, but would be defected off the road in five seconds here... This was outside the Shelby Museum and factory outside Vegas... Love the number plate... These were fairly typical of a "modified" truck over there...saw heaps of them, mostly Dodge Rams and Jeeps though with Chevs a close second. Not many Fords for some reason. Oh, and this is from inside the Shelby museum...these didn't make me shake my head, that would be impolite because that would flick drool everywhere... Then, the star...the 850hp Super Snake...take in your cheap new V8 Mustang, drop a cheque for $41,000 on the desk, and come back later to pick up your street legal mega-muscle car...*sniff*... However, even in there, I did find something to shake my head at...but I would love to own one (and yes, they're a regular production thing you can buy, it's not a one off special) Last edited by 2011G6E; 04-02-2014 at 04:36 PM. |
