Those kinds of auctions (general goods - non enthuisiest auctions) it would probably go for around 10k give or take. |

Looks nice, would love to see some side and engine bay shots.
Might have to head to Goulburn for that auction if I can get away from work.

Overriders form part of option 04 protection pack. Basically overriders and side protection moulds. Most GS cars deleted the protection moulds wherever optioned with the protection pack as it didn't really look good with the GS stripes However this car has no front overriders. |

A friends parents had one of those, virtually identical except for a black interior, back around 1985 when I was in a youth group. They'd bought it new, and it had factory air conditioning. Otherwise it was pretty much the same red with bumper over riders, a 302, and four speed. It was badged as a Falcon, not a Fairmont, from memory. Had the black GS stripes but no side protection strips, just the over riders front and rear. It had the spotlights, bonnet vents, and silver painted steel 12(? It was a long time ago) slotters with chrome trim rings. I also think it had a steel sunroof and electric windows optioned too.
We were around their place for a BBQ, and a week earlier we had paid $6500 for a 1980 Commodore 4 cylinder (stop laughing you mongrels). We all went out to the shed to gaze in wonder at the shiny red GS (as we all did whenever they had a BBQ at their place), and when I casually mentioned my "new" Commodore, my friend said "Dad's selling this...you should have let us know...he wants about six grand I think..." Later confirmed with her dad...$6200 was his asking price..."a bit less for you if you wanted it"... Last edited by 2011G6E; 16-10-2012 at 05:29 AM. |

I'm sure this car was found in a shed near Canberra a few years ago. It was posted in the classic section and the guy wanted big bucks for it?
I may be wrong but it looks very familiar (i'm going to search) |

Well not on the cars that I have owned - Landaus, XA and ZF Fairlane. The holes were most probably for spotlights |

The 60's Hammond wooden ski boat with a 351 in it sounds like a ripper too, love the old wooden ski boats.

That wooden speedboat would be frickin' sweet!!
I also notice an early sixties F500 with 351 as well in "excellent condition but no brakes" (presumably from being in the shed since 2000). I love farm clearance auctions...you never know what is going to turn up. |

Good memory, and there was some side and engine bay photos, still nice cruiser even with the 302......would be happy to buy it for the right price. With a bit of a tidy up and a stroker crank would come up real nice

Look's like a very neat original old car, a good starting project if someone was to ever want one, it's all there and complete, very hard to find a neat original example these day's.

I bought a nice tidy 302 XB Fairmont for 800 bucks a little over 10 years ago for a runaround. Of course I treated it like **** and just abandoned it after it had served its purpose Still have feelings of guilt now when I think about the condition I let it get to. I thought I would always be able to pick up a clean V8 XB for a few hundred.
