F-TYPE Jaguar Prototype Makes Public Debut At Goodwood
A development prototype example of Jaguar's new sports car, the F-TYPE, is set to make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Utilising Jaguar's industry-leading knowledge of all-aluminium construction, the F-TYPE will launch as a two-seater convertible with the focus uncompromisingly on delivering driver reward. The F-TYPE will be driven up the famous Goodwood Hill by Jaguar's Head of Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross. Powered by a supercharged V6 or V8 engine, the F-TYPE is currently undergoing development prior to going on sale mid-2013. Taking on the most challenging roads, extremes of temperature and the harshest environments, the F-TYPE is being thoroughly tested ahead of its launch. Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars commented; 'Goodwood Festival of Speed is focused around the dynamic hill runs where the public can see, hear and smell the cars - this is why we have chosen it as the place to showcase an F-TYPE prototype. The development programme is progressing with vigour and we look forward to showing the world the F-TYPE in production form later this year.'

Tata have been on the scene now since 2008 as well, but yeah, I can confirm that Ford had nothing to do with this one.

Still you really have to scratch your head at the fact that Ford never made a dime out of JLR, yet Tata are making billions out of them. Well done Jak Nasser, how did u get that all wrong? "$20,000 live like a king" |

The F type fitted with the supercharged V8 from the XKRS with 404 kw will be an absolute weapon in the smaller body.

Someone rang up work and asked me if I had a new factory ignition coil for a E type Jag in stock last week.
Maybe in 2052 my great grandson might get a call asking for a Jag F type coil on plug setup. |

Honda isn't going to get annoyed when they bring out an 'F type R' are they?
That in itself would look funny. 'F type R' Quote:

Jag's have history / style / sophistication, aspirational allure / performance / handling and power in spades and perhaps most importantly of all when investing in one you're buying a car with a secure long term future.

Jag have undergone a big renaissance over the last decade or so. Now the XF is storming along nicely. The diesel is a particularly nice ride apparently, and gets ridiculous fuel economy. I'd have one in a heartbeat if the big numbers came up on Saturday night.

I'll be interested if the coupe has a side opening hatch like the original E-type.
Ian Callum really seams to want to go his own way with Jaguar and not be hamstrung by the past. He didn't want the new F type to be too retro compared to an E type (ooh thinks of V12 coupe on +2 chassis and shudders). I'll be interested to see how the C-X75 turns out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_C-X75 Now that Jaguar aren't associated with Aston Martin they can really start punching (much as Maserati would if they had the funding to get out from under Ferrari)

Ferrari is set up to be the uppermost division.
Maserati get the second hand bits as needed for their cars. The 3200GT recieved a Ferrari V8, the Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio are spun off the California platform, the Kubang (or whatever it is going to be called) is spun off the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform and the Maserati MC12 was spun off the Ferrari Enzo platform. The Ferrari/Maserati engine was also used in the Alfa 8c coupe. The Maserati cars can be good, but they are only allowed to be good to a certain level so as not to undercut Ferrari. It is smart positioning by FIAT which is why I compared it to the Aston/Jaguar deal. Maserati will never be allowed to compete with F12's, FF's and 458 Italias, this is not accidental. There were rumours for a while that the Jaguar guys were really chafing about how they were being restrained by Aston Martin's "glass ceiling" and how they wanted to punch a bit harder.
