Default Pod filters

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows if the small pod filters that fit on the top of the block actually make a difference or if they're just a cosmetic thing? I've got an 03 fairmont and have seen a few similar models with them.

Cheers

I may have the details a little wrong but basically they filter out the oil in the fumes rather than have it go back into your air intake. No performance gain to be had. And illegal as your not allows to vent those fumes into the atmosphere which is what it's doing.
I think you can do it legally using a catch can set up

I'd holdout for a more in depth answer than mine so you understand it completely as I may not be technically correct in what it does but I do know that it's illegal and most guys go with the catch can set up instead which is basically the same except instead of using the filter you run it through a can which collects the excess oil. You have to remember to empty it though.
