LPG has gone from apprx 65 to 79.9 cents a litre overnight!
After passing the first station this morning I wondered whether they'd just missed a delivery and it was to ration their remaining supply. Passed the next station and to my relief it was 65 cents still. On the way home this afternoon they were both 79.9! I dont think I can afford an extra $22.5 per fill. I am beyond disgusted. Anyone want to buy a V8? And for those trolls who will inevitably want to point out that this isn't an uncommon price to pay for LPG in small towns please save yourselves the embarassment and read the title. |

Yep same here in brisbane. This is because the international price for propane and butane is very high at the moment.

yes , noticed this also around sydney metro area. anyone know whats going on. afaik lpg is a by-product of the fuel/petrol making process, how could it possibly go up while unleaded is supposedly dropping in price? has a new tarrif or tax been imposed ?

I'm pretty sure on sunday I saw a servo here in Bayswater/ Kilsyth area had 79c per litre and it didn't really click, thought it was just a mistake. This sucks! Arn't we exporting it to Japan for under 10c a litre?

LPG price cycle is monthly which is why it may seem it jumped so much for no reason.
It would be the start of a new price cycle and the price of LPG has risen globally - hence it cost more to buy = it cost YOU more to buy. |

We should be paying under $1 a litre for unleaded while we are at it, the dollar has hardly ever been higher. The oil price is low compared to most recent years (when compared to what our dollar buys!)!!!
Cant believe the GOVT lets the big companies make billions! I guess the like it as they pay tax when the public isnt spending and so paying more tax.... We are NOT allowed to save. |

It's 83.9c where I am here in rural NSW normally. Hopefully it doesn't go up any more!

It's been climbing in a criminal manner now for many years...it used to be a quarter of the price of petrol, which is only right seeing as how we export it in bulk to overseas buyers for cents a liter.
They did say that as more people took it up, the price would rise pretty dramatically to make a buck out of people. I also remember there was a price level where once it passed a certain percentage of petrol prices, it was no longer economical to run a car on it...can't remember what the percentage was, but it would have to be getting pretty close... |

Could this be because of the new excise tax being applied???

Gas had been around 50c p/l for the last 5+ months or so down here, then Mid December it jumped 15c up to 65c p/l.
I really hope it doesn't jumped up the the 70s, I know it's ridiculously cheap compared to the latter, but it still surprises me with such a jump in price. |

mmmm have got to agree on that one 2011G6E it has to be close to not be making a profit. and brissy fuel prices have been as unpredictable as melbourne weather.

Nah it's good, greater profits means secure jobs. After all that's the only thing that matters right?

LPG is $1.31 a litre in N.Z. = $A1.02, well last time I looked it was, I suppose that means it will be going up to around $1.50 this week.
