Default What car would you buy - $30000 and under.

You've got a maximum of $30000 to spend on a car.
It doesnt have to be a daily driver, it only has to be sold in Australia at the present time.
It can be any make, model or age - whatever you want.
It can be an Imported car but for the sake of this thread, you cant import it, it has to already be here and easily found.
No projects either, it has to be usable and ready for the road (normal RWC items are fine though)
The price of rego, insurance, fees and costs arent to be taken into account, the $30000 or less can be spent solely on a car of your choice.
Please try and keep it realistic, without argument or knocking what others might choose - try and keep the thread on track as well.
And no T Series vs Boss Engines either - thats been done already.

What would you buy and why?

If I was given $30,000 in cash and told I must spend it on a car or I'd have to hand it back I'd probably see if I could get another BA GT to add to the stable - in either Shockwave/White or Rapid/Black as a brother to park next to my Silhouette/Silver BA GT

something old, hardtop or xb gt, 30k would get you a nice old muscle car.

and less chance of watching that 30k disappear through depreciation.

A VZ HSV Clubsport R8 or a R33 GTR, I already have what I want from the Ford stable.

Ah way to broad of choice.

Im waiting for coyote to come out so a BA XR8 can be had for say $15kish (get one now for $18k easy, low k's, manual etc). Would prefer a BA2, then I would wait until a coyote n/a is available and plonk that in CAT600 style.

400HP + manual + V8 = winner. And thats pretty much stock. I haven't sat down to do the figures on the engine conversion yet...hopefully that doesn't go over $15k..LOL

But as a straight up purchase, id get a BA2 GT quick smart, they will be a bargain in 6 months time.

That or a nice FD RX7, I blame a certain member on this forum for that. Like this one:

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=1284A24E22F5

But if I was looking for an investment/weekender id find a XB GT sedan.

It is too broad of a choice. I was thinking Corvette, old Porsche, ratrod or something but if it was a track day car a Caterham or maybe a Morgan.

As a weekender I would probably end up with some thing like this Jaguar MKII
