Life, the universe and everything, these eternal mysteries pale into insignificance when compared to the most important question in the 21st century.
WILL THE FG2 GT (coyote) BE QUICKER OVER THE 400m THAN THE F6? The true believers from the church of octovee are absolutely convinced that their faith with be rewarded in the rapture created by the coming of the new messiah. The heretical followers of the beast (666) who cast a hex on FPV in 2004 are steeling themselves for armageddon. So, in the near future, a bog standard FG2 GT lines up against a FG2 F6 and the xmas tree turns green. What happens next....... N.B. bog standard means original tyres, pump fuel, all accessories fitted to car, absolutely no non factory original driveline components and driven by a normal sized human (80-100kg). |

I'm going to vote GT faster than F6, only because I really want the Ford V8 to regain it's dominance...

Personally, i think it will be pretty even, but who really cares cause they'll both be quicker then HSV's and alot of big money performance cars.

It will be a disappointment if the GT isn't as quick as the F6.
Regardless, it is highly likely I will be buying a Coyote powered FG2 instead of a turbo 6 to replace the BAXR8 ASAP..... |

Won't know till all is said and done but one thing is an absolute .... Coyote will sound a hell of a lot better when it does cross the line.

Once available this comparison will be in every magazine and will be the subject of a plethora of forum threads. The F6 has anecdotally achieved mid to high 12 second runs at various tracks. To go quicker than that while retaining drivability, reliability and compliance with Euro4 will require some serious engineering. 6 months from now we will be able to look back and see who guessed right...... |

Given the instant torque of a blower one would assume the GT in stock form.
But, if the grip has not improved the F6 may take the honours due to a softer launch. I should vote: It will be too close to predict But I will vote: The GT will be just a tiny bit quicker Because that should be the natural order, flagship = quickest. |

GT is going to need some serious power/grip to do it. Hasnt there been a couple of F6s that have done 12.3 down the strip? If it was quicker would almost be hitting 11 second territory.

here is hoping the natural order of the universe is restored and the gt is quicker.
No way it will 0.5 sec quicker - that would put it in the low 12 sec bracket, which is way beyond anything produced locally.

They will be lineball.. Its the GTH that will smash the F6.. Going by the driveline failures FPV are experiencing.

If we rely on journos to do the tests, they will be close but the F6 will just get up. In the real world, the F6 will beat it by atleast .5 secs so that's how I voted.
btw - did I miss the penultimate question or did we jump one? |

This is nearly Fords last chance to get it right. The Coyote V8's need to be faster than the turbo 6's, or the V8 will become extinct. For the sake of the Falcon in Australia, they also need to be faster that Holden/HSV. Performance equals sales, thus why the F6/XR6T are the best sellers.

Most of that power from the new V8 will be useless (from stop start times anyway) unless FPV put wider tyres on it so it's able to get some grip. Going by some spy shots, with a flaired rear guard, they've done this. It's very hard to say as nothing has been fully confirmed, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the F6s domination will continue for a little bit longer, if only because I reckon FPV may also up the power on the I6 Turbo.

Second picture down. I read the article, then looked at the arches, then compared to a few snaps of the current FG range, and I think they are right. Unless the lighting has thrown me off?

I hope it is that bit quicker than the F6, 0.5 would be nice. I also hope they raise the bar in the handling/body dynamics stakes while they're at it!
