I got in the mail today an envelope from FORD advertising the FG.
The postcards inside are of a UFO, Big Foot and Loch Ness monster. With the slogan " You Have To See It Too Believe It" I agree, the FG is rare, whereas the Dunnydore is common. The advertising could also be used for the Mondeo.

I dont see many FGs here in brisbane, a few XTs getting around. But up on the coast there were XR6s everywhere (could have all been tourists in hire cars). Hardly ever see another turbo and 8s are a real rarity.

On the other hand, go to NQ (Mackay and up) and you get a much more even split. In particular Cairns (where i hale from originally) is a very big Falcon market % wise. Bugger all in total sales obviously but there were FGs all over the place (and i'm talking private sales) particulary XR6. I went up there last christmas and saw 5 FGs before i left the airport access road...and only 2 of those were rental fleets. There was G6ET at the first major intersection i came to with a little old lady driving it and her husband in the passenger seat. I said to my old man '....see, people up here who don't have money to waste know where the value is...' (no disrespect to those living in SE qld just that not alot of guys in regional qld go for BMWs/Merc due to availability and price....)

I see heaps here in central Adelaide. Around the st maries area I see heaps, many XT's, utes at work, G series all over castle plaza. Saw an F6 making it's way down south road not long back too. They're out there for sure.

I see heaps of FG's XR's 8's and 6's, G6E's Turbo and Non-Turbo Utes and sedans.
I am in south east ranging from Fairfield - Crestmead - Booval - Sunnybank on a daily basis. I do however see alot more Commodores :( I remember years ago when Ford used to advertise here "Queensland Loves A Ford" and fairdinkum, you would see em everywhere. Thesedays, Fords marketing sucks bigtime. Sorry to add a rant :/

AFAIK Falcon is outselling Commodore 2009 YTD in Qld. One of the forum contributors (in a position to know) has it in his signature.

Based on what i see in my area of brisbane it would be 3 to 1 in favour of the VE. But of course it has been on sale alot longer so its impossible to say much about this....

I see FGs everywhere. Heaps of G series especially G6ETs, XR6s and there is an XR8 that lives around my area. Will admit there isnt many FPVs getting about. Only seen one GT and a couple of F6s. Saying that dont see many VE HSVs either apart from the ones at work. Back to the OP, when they say "you have to see it to believe it" i dont think they're talking about rarity but how good it is in real life. - just like someone sai above and posted at the exact same time lol |

I saw 3 private FG XR6's in the space of one block in Moorooka, so they aren't that rare

I see heaps of territories compared to sportswagons, which I thought was fords competitive vehicle to VE sportswagon? They're everywhere, usually with a mob of kids in the back and a flustered mum driving them home from school. The FG is surprisingly common in Adelaide despite the VE being made here. Interesting to note. Although that's just my experience, perhaps if I drove a bit further north I'd see more holdens and less fords not sure.

If we want to talk sales, we should combine Falcon and Territory. That would give the same numbers as Commodore sedan and Wagon.

One thing i have noticed here in Brissy, is there seems to be more FG GT's than VE HSV's. As for FG F6's, i dont think ive seen one out on the road, ever. Same with the XR8's, plenty of XR6's though.

I didn't think Ford had sold more than about 10 FG's.......... Then I went to Geelong :p, it's like the Falcon plague that place. I don't think I've ever seen more Ford in my life all at once, I'm sure there's more Falcons there than Commodores which is amazing really. Must be the only city in the country where that is the case

Don't know about the Falcon capital, but Mandurah WA is Australia's Ford Capital with the most registrations; probably because of the great dealer down there.

Wasnt this thread meant to be about the ad, not how many FGs we see around?
Can we see a scan of this? |
