Default Keeping dog off of my car...

Yes, dog, not cat... Dog...

Staffy x... wont come near the car when im in it / near it, but when i am at work, she goes exploring , on the bonnet... checks out the doors, to see if im inside.. the XR6 is covered in little scratches now, and the front of the XR8 is dirty from where she was checking it out thisafternoon while i was out...

Other than fencing the Carport with chickenwire or something, is there any way i can teach her to stay away? I told her off for it, took her over and did the whole "What's this!" thing, but not sure if she knew What she was in trouble for....

Any ideas would be great, and no, im NOT going to shoot the dog, just befor you all start demanding it :P

Cheers.

S.

My parents have a Staffy, far from dumb and very obedient. All comes down to training.
Same will apply to OP's dog.

I've been wondering that myself...probably our own fault (or our sons originally). His staffy-cross lives with us out here, and our sons first car from some years back, an old '93 Corolla Seca, sits in the back yard needing a head gasket (when I get time...). He let the dog jump up on it, and now it gets up on there all the time to survey the street.
The problem is that he's started jumping up on our old WB ute as well.

The missus says if he jumps up on the G6E or our Celica, he's an ex-dog...

Put something on the car that the dog doesn't like. Boa Constrictor? Or a bowl of water laced with pepper.

Rofl Boa Constrictor :P i'd give it a go, but the dog would probably think it was a toy, and try even harder to get at it :p

As for car covers, I'm going to go pick some up hopefully tomorrow morning from Supercheap auto, just waiting on pay *shakes fists* hoping that will work, atleast it will protect a little against her if she is wishing to jump on it.

Electric fence is what my mum suggested, she lives on a property , with a few Horses (Rottie x bullmastiff dogs) and she uses that to keep them in the yard... that would be my 2nd option, 3rd would be to enclose it in chickenwire (the carport) and buy a gate for it.... *sighs* but yeah, thick as pig poop lol

ROFLMAO...

if you notice, the cars are not exactly parked under the carport... as my brother left me about half a ton of junk right behind it when he moved out.... fun times with hand grenades! :gren:

Nah, she'd just hook up with all the other dogs that are roaming the streets down this end, no joke, driving home on tuesday from the movies, there were 6 dogs in a group all just taking a leasurely run up the street.... half of them i've seen running around befor..

As for the lawn mower, my yard is in split sections, about 6 of the bloody things, so i bought a whipper snipper... and the cable breaks every 5 seconds lol , useless...

I'm buying a Llama ...

I thought about electric fence, i know they work against the dogs... but the problem is, the carport is metal..... i could just see me leaning on the carport to step over the fence....forgetting that the poles would be charged too :P

You can't charge the carport poles with an electric fence if they are in the ground or the fence won't work. It has to be insulated from the ground because the thing (animal) that touches it (the electric fence) makes the circuit complete to ground. This is how they get the shock.

I think the dog is just jealous because the car has a bigger kennel - move the dog into the house and it will be happy and leave your car kennel alone.

I got this stuff called SCRAM from the pet shop to keep my german shepherd pup from chewing on my outdoor setting. It smells like citronella, apprantly dogs and cats dont like it. It has worked for me so far.
