Mech Engineering student looking for vacation work

Hi lads, I dont know if this is the correct place to be posting this but I hope the Bar will do.

I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student. I am wondering whether any of you guys on here would know of any places that I could get some vacation work, particularly within the automotive industry? I have been searching numerous job sites but have been finding it difficult to find much automotive related work, so I hope some of you guys might be able to help out. I have applied to a few companies so far who have either turned me down, or havent replied.

Basically, I live in QLD, so it would be ideal if I could get work in QLD, but I realise that beggars can't be choosers, so if all else fails I won't mind travelling a bit further. For a bit of a summary, my vacation period goes from November to February. If no-one has any engineering related work, even a temporary laborours job in the automotive industry would give me a bit of experience. Outside of my Engineering degree, I have also completed a certificate in Electrotechnology through TAFE (basic soldering, wiring, electrical testing, etc), and I'm competent with 3D AutoCAD, as well as MS Office and computers in general.

I actually have another mate in exactly the same situation, so if by any chance someone has two openings, that would be even better!
