Default ATO... Indian help desk.

I never thought that it would ever happen. I have been on the phone for about two hours to the ATO. You guessed it, help desk is now India based. After spending about 1 hour 50 minutes to about 5 different Indian "help" desk people, I finally got through to an Australian based officer. Once through, I had my issues sorted out in 10 minutes. July is always the worst month of the year for me as I do battle with the ATO. It is going to be a truck load worse now. :

I just got off the phone with the ATO - this bloke was ozzy as they come, all sorted in 10 mins. I actualy expected more hold time!

But once you start getting those indians, well, GOOD LUCK - you'll need it! thats an appauling effort from the ATO

What a crock. You assume because someone has an indian or foreign accent, then call centres have been outsourced to India. This is an Australian Government Department. They do not outsource these types of jobs to India. These are Australian Citizens who are employed by the ATO who work in Australian Based Call Centres.

You do realise that Australia does actually have people who immigrate from other countries. India would be one of those countries
