Hi ive got brake squeel probs with my BF XR8 06 premium PBR setup
What pads do u recommend for the Stock rotors ive got a bad feeling the front disc are
poor steel as they rainbow up and squeel with ultimates, thermal quiets so far
have a new set of PBR OE`s to put on thinking the front rotors are of bad quality steel
Put new spring shims in,new guide pins but all with same rotor even machined the front rotors with new wheel bearings. What pads do u suggest im thinking another set of thermal quiets with a change of rotor. Also new rear disks after 6 weeks started grooving up with bendix ultimates.Car is standard use but has a HP boss engine bit heavy.

If they Rainbow up i would guess they are getting over hot but at the same time we have a few people telling us they have squeal issues with Bendix Ultimates at the moment.
You could skim the rotors and go either a Project MU NS400 pad to see if that helps first before replacing the rotors but you know me i am DBA most of the time if you need new rotors.

$290 a set if it has traction control and 1 ltr of fluid should be enough at $25 per 500ml bottle AP Racing 5.1

Hello Matt,
I have a fg ute with the 298mm disc.
As its a 1 tonne ute with 16inch wheel, do you know if I can upgrade to the xr8 disc and caliper?
Has anyone done this or do I need to supply some dimensions ?

From memory you will need the 17" wheels but besides that it will bolt straight up.

Matt,

Can you do new master cylinders for a BF GT-P (are they any different to other BF models?).

I think mine may be leaking internally, as the pedal will not hold pressure, no evidence of leaks anywhere else, and the fluid is new SRF (~3 months) and air free. Had a disturbingly close look at the wall at the Dipper on the weekend.

thanks

Can you send me the vin number and have you tried bleeding the system after the track day to see if it is any better?

Yes there are about 4 different master cylinders from memory as some are sedans and some are utes plus traction control and ABS including DSC as well.

DBA T3 rotors if you need rotors and is it just for street use or also some track use ? Are you getting fade or just want a better stopping pad and if for street do you care about dust because you will get a better pad if dust isn't an issue and i would go the Ferodo DS2500 pad and the DS Performance on the rear.

only street use mate. am really just after a better stopping pad, but i do get a little fade. also have the abs cutting in a bit as well.
dust n squeal aren't my highest of concerns but the less i can have of both the better.

much appreciated

Hi, A while ago (a few years!) someone asked about Speed bleeders. Were you/are you able to get them? SB1010 (for a Pulsar) was the part number I require x 4. Thanks.

Hope you have a good holiday, just had 3 weeks of myself.

Chasing a firm pedal with short travel on my 2012 FGII ute. Tradie EcoLPi tonner.
Stock steel 16" wheels, bilsteins and braided brake lines. At 270k due for my last machine of the original discs and a new set of stock pads.

Previous BA ute would consume a set of (front) DBA discs and 2 sets of Bendix Metal King pads every 50-60K, and I don't drive the FG any different. Don't know if there was a technical problem with the BA, but I'm keen to keep the stock disc/pad on the FG.

My problem is I hate the long spongy pedal of Aussie made cars, I want the feel of my Brembo equipped motorcycles. Short and firm, but with great feel. So would that require some change in the master cylinder piston size, the brake booster, or the pedal box?

I had this same situation with my 2012 One Tonne
went to a 17 inch territory wheel with xr6 turbo brakes, DBAt3 and Bendix ultimate pads, much better stopping power but high wear and dust.
same pedal feel (long ) and never had complete confidence. after 200k went to a fgx (not 1 tonne )and fitted the brembos and stock pads, bigger front wheels. good pedal feel and stops on a dime regardless of load.
Would be interesting to investigate different master cylinder sizes ( if any available )

The problem is we can't compare your bike brakes a to your car brakes as they are so different. If you go bigger in bore size on the master cylinder for a firmer pedal you will need more pedal force to pull you up plus $$$$$$$.
You can try different brake pads and fluid but i am sure it wont ever get as good in firmness as your bike sorry.

Yeah, my BA suffered terribly with (stock) brake fade coming down a mountain with 2 harleys on the back. Low gears all the way and pray hard. Bendix pads and cooling ducts fixed the fade but rotor consumption could be measured weekly.

FG with ABS has been fantastic on the stock pads and rotors, it's why I'm hesitant to change to DBA/Bendix etc.

Just been across the Simpson in my brother's PK Ranger with big wheels/tyres, slipping clutch and no brakes, the FG's pedal feels brilliant by comparison.

Might be cheaper to leave mine alone and drive the Ranger once a month.
